Stuck at a painfully bad conference. →[More:]The speaker actually said, as far as I could tell among the ramblings and tangents, that pregnant teenagers are in a much better position to succeed than wealthy white middle-aged pregnant women. Please shoot me now.

Stop thinking of it as a speaker at a conference but as an improv comic at a club that doesn't serve alcohol. Not necessarily more pleasant, but more fun to analyze.

I think she was trying to claim that teens have more resources. Because people in societally approved relationships doing age-appropriate things have such trouble finding validation for their choices. Or something.

It's a conference on post-partum depression. I would like it to end.

If it makes you feel any better, I felt the whole morning riding my bike in gorgeous weather, and got filmed in the place I had breakfast for a show on the Food Network. It was about coconut cream pie and it's supposed to air in August.

Re: the conference. I love foop's suggestion to change your way of looking at it, but the idea of a comic that bad at a place that didn't serve alcohol is too disturbing. Maybe you could plan next week's menus in the margins of the handout, and sketch bunnies for MeCha photo Fridays.

Oh, and they did have lunch. So I took two sandwiches, because I felt I deserved them. Can't say they were really worth the registration fee, but they were pretty good.
