Bad Baby Names.. [More:]Found this list and thought I'd share. On another site, we had a discussion about this and someone listed "La-a". Not pronounced "La-La", or even "lay-ah". Nope. It was pronounced "LaDASHa" because "the dash don't be silent". Got any contributions?
I have a contribution from snopes...

My fiance's surname is Wall, so we've got a collection of names that we're threatening to use. My current favourite is Wanda, and enough people have looked at us blankly when we've used it that I'm pretty damn tempted to use it as a middle name, at least.

I know I'll run around singing "You're my Wanda Wall!" at her a lot if we do.

She'll hate me for it, of course.

My married last name is spelled differently, but is pronounced "broils". When I met my brother-in-law to be, he told me how they considered naming their son "London"..yeah, it took me a minute...

Gaspode, ah well, there's enough weird names out there that it could have been possible.

In these conversations I always have to mention the man who was dean of my college, Dr. Richard Dangle. And yes, he was known as Dick to his friends.

I always thought Dick Pound (former head of WADA) had a funny name.

I have a co-worker who's last name is Cadotte. It's pronouced with a short "a" sound, and ends with "dot".

When she was pregnant, her husband REALLY wanted to give a daughter a middle name of "Poe". It took me a moment or two when she told me to really process those sounds together. Then, I really, really liked her husband.

A guy I knew named Michael Hunt insisted on being called 'Mike'.

I used to work with a guy whose last name was Yale. He and his wife joked about naming their not-yet-conceived son Rebel.

IRL, there was a teacher in my high school named Mike Grafone. I can prove that, since he's in my yearbook. What I can't prove, but is equally true, is that his wife's name was Meg.

My dad used to hang out with a pair of brothers named Jim and Steele whose last name was Beam.

I may have told this story here before. Went to visit a friend in hospital when she had her son. In the nursery were twin boys, Hunter and Fisher.

Sure you aren't thinking about Ima Hogg?

I was going to mention Ima Hogg. Bayou Bend is really beautiful, if you ever find yourself in Houston (not that I would ever recommend you find yourself there, and frankly I could recommend several places you should visit first, but still - it is nice - gardens and antiques, if that floats your boat).

My daughter is named Hermione. I have no standing to judge anyone else on their choice of names.

Had an over boss named Dorcus. Yep.

Got yelled at by the husband when we discovered that baby #2 was going to be a girl and that I wanted to just femenize the decided male name of Oliver Cromwell to Olivia Cromwella. Of course, this is the man who wanted to name one of the sons, Jesus Levinson.
