Happy Mother's day to all you mothers and guardians out there! Did you do anything special for or with your mom this year for Mother's Day?[More:]My sister and I got my mom a dress and sent her flowers to work since she can't have them at home (her partner is allergic).
I have dinner plans this afternoon with the family (including my brother's latest girlfriend that my mother is over the damn moon about) at a restaurant that allegedly has each room decorated like a different London Tube station (which my mother will love since she loved her trips to London, even though I had to figure out how to use the Tube because she cannot figure out public transportation to save her life).

My little brothers and I are taking her to a Korean restaurant tonight - a new thing for her, I think. And we're giving her a gift certificate for some Asian cooking classes.

I should have one of the brothers get a card. I forgot!

We just got back from a lovely picnic in Central Park. Weather is absolutely perfect - sunny, 70deg.

I sent my mother some fancy chocolates and a card. My present got delayed so I don't know what my daughter got me, but I did get woken up with flowers this morning.

Mom stayed overnight last night -- mr. init cooked a wonderful dinner and we went to brunch this morning. We have given her a subscription to her local newspaper for several years now; she does the crossword puzzle, and passes the paper to my grandparents, who live next door and aren't online.

I spent the day with my mother kayaking. We don't exchange cards or gifts. We decided a long time ago to stop with the gifts and cards and just give greetings and enjoy each other's company. My kids made me cards at school and my husband is getting me a knife that I want. This isn't necessarily for Mother's Day. I just want it.

Got flowers and a card for the wife and we both made my mom dinner. Sauteed shrimp with a garlic, lemon and white wine sauce over linguine. Roast potatoes with paprika and fresh herbs. A salad and haricot vert with garlic and oil. The wife is concocting a cream and fresh berry desert right now.

It's also my mom's birthday today, so she came here, along with my brother and his wife. We barbequed (rib steaks), corn on the cob, a variety of salads, and birthday cake for dessert. The day was sunny, it was simply a gorgeous day.

No, the day rather snuck up on me. I sent her a few e-cards (lame, but they were funny) and I'm going to call in a few minutes. She's coming up next weekend so I can make it up a bit then.

Sent an e-card and called my mom today. We had a good conversation, and I got to tell her about the crazy part-time gig I scored while I wait to get a full-time gig.

I left a message for my sister, whom my mom says was greeted by my niece as being "Your Highness" because she's queen for a day. Sent her an e-Card, too.

And to combine this into the food thing: I'm "mothering" my boyfriend by helping him cook some of the food that's in his freezer, so that he can start "rotating" the stock. I'm also helping out by doing the laundry for us (he puts away, and will be doing tonight's dishes after dinner, too).

When I called my mom to wish her a happy mother's day this morning she accidentally hung up on me. So I texted her "I love you?" which she thought was funny.

We ordered flowers on Friday night to be delivered today. But the florist ran out of flowers and our Mom got bupkis! Booooooooooo!!! We're going to try again next weekend, she deserves it.

I drove about 6.5 hours (round trip!) to spend a little less than 4 hours with my mom today. She's moved recently and is now only about 3 and a 1/4 hours away, rather than 5. So...I figured, what the hell. It was a beautiful day for a drive, and my doing this meant that she got to have dinner with all three of her kids. Woo!

I spent Saturday evening at Mom's asking her questions about her childhood. For some reason when Dad was alive she was not really open to talking history. I think maybe because he was hard of hearing and couldn't keep up with a long conversation. We had an entertaining talk. Our mother/daughter relationship can be prickly but when we both try, it can be nice.
