Fabulous!

Good story; between this and your contribution to the AE Micro 2011, you're really showing off your fiction chops. Keep it up, I don't want Scalzi (who I 'met' when he was working for AOL in the 90s) to be my only Novel-Writing Internet Friend.

That said, I blame "American Graffiti" for this kind of narrative. And then "Animal House".

But I suspect the best postscript for Calvin is actually in the funny papers today. "Frazz" is one of the best newspaper comics left, about an underachieving school janitor who is a cool mentor to the kids. I like to think he is what Calvin would grow up to become under the best of circumstances. And he totally has the same hair.

Ahh! I didn't realize that was released yet. Yay AE Micro.

I am currently avoiding writing the book I'm ....working on.

That is a very ....interesting similarity there oneswellfoop. Is Frazz owned by the same syndicate as Calvin cause I could see them using it as a "sequel but not in name" kinda thing.

And I'd be a baaaad self-promoter if I didn't mention I have a book out already

I always thought that Jeremy from "Zits" was considered to be Calvin as a teenager (same triangular smile, etc.).

You nailed it, Whelk. Well done.

That was great. I prefer to think things went more or less this way, though.
