Fisherman wake up call three point status update So, I am on fisherman wake up call.[More:]

W, my partner, managed garages for a living and then got cancer and failed his insurance medical to go back to work.

We live in a fishing village and as he knows how to mend boats, W fixed our friend Mike's and is teaching him how to fish commercially. W is a good angler and has net fished.

We hang out in the local social club, where fishermen are. We've lived here about a year and are friends with a few.

After W fixed Mike's boat a large, round, sweet fisherman invited him to fish Sunday night. Due to tides it's been moved up to 2am gmt this morning.

W was thrumming with nervous energy all night, although he would never admit it. In a few hours I will wake him up, tea and sandwich him and send him off. This is sort of a test and if he passes it hopefully he will be able to crew boats and earn money.

I'm chilling here and have Indiana jones and bioshock 2 to get on with, and how are you lot?
2) so I unjailbroke my iPhone and it is still running like shit, wtf?

3) is it ok to ask metafilter questions about someone you know?

1. Starting Couch to 5k.... Again. And trying to lose 10 pounds in the next 6 weeks.

2. Trying to keep near-constant anxiety about multiple aspects of my life in check.

3. Hoping that the sense of control that doing #1 gives me will help with #2. Historically, that's been the case (sometimes morphing into an eating disorder -- that's not what I'm looking for here, of course).

1. finally mopped the grungy floor. I can finally have the reward I promised myself!

2. Hate that I'm on a buncha meds that keep me from drinking, but boy I like being able to breathe.

3. Good luck to W!

1. A quiet Easter Sunday here. I'm clearing out the garage later. There's not too much crap lurking at the back, but I want to get rid of it before I get a new car. I also have some stuff to put up on Freecycle.

2. Feeling a bit wistful. Easter is a big family holiday in the UK and when I was a kid it was the only time of year that relatives were allowed to visit our house (which was a shithole). My mum's family would drive down from Manchester and my dad would take the men to the Working Man's Club. I don't recall a meal being served (my mother didn't cook) so it was probably sandwiches, as normal. I have very little family left, and what there is I have minimal - or no - contact with.

3. My gym is starting a beginner's running group, and I've put my name down for it and hope I get accepted. There'll probably be a big demand for it.

1. I'm studying in Paris this semester, so this is my first Easter away from my family. I'm living in a homestay with a sweet old lady who is atheist, and no other students in my program are celebrating Easter. So I'm on my own this year, which feels really strange and lonely.

2. I leave France on May 4 to travel around Europe for a month with a good friend. I'm looking forward to it, but I also am feeling increasingly homesick and would just as gladly skip it to come home. I hope that changes and I start feeling really excited for the last month of being abroad.

3. This is my first three-point status update. I hope I'm doing this right.

Comic Sans-culotte, there is no wrong way! Welcome to three-point update!

lysdexic, you may have inspired me to mop my own floor. YAY.

1. Oh, it's Easter. We're an atheistic household, and The Fella has to work today, so for me, Easter just means malted milk eggs YAY, just as Passover just means Passover Coca-Cola YAY!

2. I puzzled over a crazy spike on my blog yesterday until followable links showed up in my referral logs: matthowie and cortex both [posted/Tweeted/delicioused] my collected links to Can I eat this questions. Aha, that would explain it.

3. I have a doughnut! I have a doughnut! I have a doughnut! I am still stuck with semi-soft food and it. is. boring. But at least I have a doughnut!

I hope no-one feels like I'm belittling their holidays with this: I know they mean more to other people, and I respect that.

1. Easter dinner at a new restaurant last night (since my folks were all freaked out since they had a sewer backup on Thursday) because we had to reschedule a bunch of times in order to accomodate my brother and I, wasn't a complete clusterfuck. Even though my brother brought a new girlfriend. (Frankly, I'm surprised he's gotten serious enough with one of them to get them to 'introduce to parents' stage. My brother's a bit of a player.) I'm at work today, but no extra pay or anything.

2. My current plans of doing 45 minutes ACA reading, 45 minutes language work (currently Czech), 45 minutes other shit, seems to be working out really well. I just wish the books I ordered from WSU would show up. (I order 3 a week on Sunday and they usually show up by the end of the week but they didn't last week.)

3. Starting week 6 of Couch 2 5k today. I need to be jogging a bit faster in order to get the mileage and times to sync up properly and I hope I can get that going today even though I think my Nike+ thing isn't always accurate on the distances.

1. Mopping the floor too today, must be a trend.

2. Laptop is dying a slow death of its video card/display. The screen keeps flickering and/or going black and there's a growing blob of black in the lower right corner of the screen. Backing up and ordered a new HP Envy since this one is three years old and probably not worth fixing.

3. Good luck on the Couch-2-5k folks. I did it years ago and running is one of my great joys in life even though I'm still overweight and slow as hell. My second 1/2 Marathon is coming up in a few weeks and I'm really not ready but I'll run and finish.

Comic Sans-culotte, Welcome!

1. Feeling a bit pensive this Easter. Not doing anything with anyone other than my sons...though we had the traditional egg hunt (my boys are 17 and 14). Probably a little hormonal, but I was feeling nostalgic for times gone by.

2. Got my butt moving and edged my gardens in anticipation of mulching in the near future, and got rid of old brick edging. Also changed my bedding to my warm weather style! Really brightened up my sleeping area.

3. Hmm...thinking that due to #2, I'll be quite sore tomorrow.

1. Went to Philly for the weekend and saw my sister and father which was nice, but my sister also invited a bunch of new friends of hers which ruined family time a little for me.

2. My best friend just broke up with her serious BF, and I am really happy about it because I never liked him but I feel really bad for her and I'll be spending a lot of my free time with her for the next few weeks. We had a nice time last night after she made the call and I brought her flowers and cheesy magazines to distract her.

3. I am in the stage of Passover where every meal just makes me angry and resentful of people who can eat more things than I can. It is very hard to be vegetarian and also keep Passover in the Ashkenazi style (no rice, beans, soy etc). I am sick of matzoh and I want pasta like it was my job.

1. Yesterday was the Bees birthday, she is four years old. There was hugging and fishes but she didn't want much, she was even less insistent about making me watch her while she eats, which is her own individual oddity, as it seems her love of strawberries is not as rare as I thought. Oh, the things you learn on askme.

2. I have a presentation to do and not only am I inexperience with the power point, it turns out my presentation is WWwwaaaayyy too long. The topic kind of demands some explanation of history and theory before getting into treatment, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to proceed and really need to get it all sorted today. Plus my usually ability to run at the mouth seems to be a bit stunted at the moment. I might have to redo the whole thing from what I know and I'm starting to worry. I really need to do well on this crazy piece of crap, especially since I'm the very last presenter and should have no excuses for being unprepared.

3. Must fix up a paper on spirit possession. Writing it was like pulling teeth and I'm sure it must be very flawed, but I think I tend to have very high standards and very low expectations of my own work. This damnable semester is almost over, so all this work is really the last of it before finals. Gah. I have been so stressed and really all this is the least of my problems. Any yet here i am procrastinating. Sigh.

Why not ask mefi questions about someone you know? It seems to be all about how you phrase and frame it.
