Long shot request I hope this is okay to post, especially since I don't have much activity under my belt here.

This is a long shot, but I'm looking for a picture out of a book called This Train is Bound for Glory. It's a book of photography by the immensely talented Justine Kurland. [More:]

I saw the book at a gallery here in Paris, where Kurland is showing an exposition currently. I can't find the image online, and I didn't think to take a photograph of the book while I was there the first time.

Anyway, if you have the book and wouldn't mind snapping a picture of the page and emailing it to me, I would be very much indebted. (It's for an academic project, so there shouldn't be any copyright issues at work here, if that's a concern.)

Thanks Metachat!
Just checking, have you paged through Google Images for it?

Yep! I've tried every permutation of the information I can think of. Google-fu is failing me.

Oh, and in case it becomes relevant, the photo in question is called "Photo No. 49, Train Doc."

Thanks!

The local university runs undergraduate courses in photography but I looked at their library catalogue and they don't seem to have it, I'm afraid. I'll try the university bookshop if I have time later...

Just out of curiosity, are you French?

Thanks, Alto! Since realizing I couldn't find it, I've made some other plans for the project, so no need to go out of your way for it. I appreciate it, though.

And no, I'm an American student studying art history in Paris this semester.

I was wondering - the fact that you used "exposition" (rather than "exhibition") says to me that you're either French, or are immersed in French ;)

I translate French to English for a living, so have to live in that twilight world between languages, while keeping them separate in my mind, every day. It's interesting.

Ha! I learned the hard way when I mentioned "an exhibition I saw at the Louvre" over dinner. I didn't understand why everyone suddenly looked confused and disgusted, until it was explained to me: "Expositions are for artists. Exhibitions are for creepy old men in the park."

That's hilarious. I never knew that. In fact, I've been working in museums for a dozen years and I just now learned the difference between "Exhibit" and "exhibition."

And here, we use "expose" for the flasher in the park. But we do call him "Exhibitionist."
