Things seem unusually and loudly contentious in my state right now. It's not like Wisconsin, I know, but it's starting to get me down nevertheless.
That is just a pissy move, to have that mural removed. Here, the left can be equally pissy. They lobbied (and won) to have a cross removed from a hilltop that is public property. The cross had been there for 50 years, and was not hurting anyone. Even as a non-Christian, I found this to me mean-spirited and counter-productive.

Everyone is worried about what things look like and no one is worried about how things actually are.

Better images of the mural, with information on the panels. Not the brightest images of labor, but definitely looks historically factual.

Sad that the Department of Labor needs to be more business-friendly. It's not called the Department of Business.

In theory, I like that my home state has its first Franco-American governor, since there are so many of us there. :-)

But this guy is just such a loser. A friend and fellow Mainer characterizes him as a "seagull governor" -- one who flies in, shits all over everything and flies away.

In California, the future looks dire. The governor's only real hope seems to be getting a couple tax extensions on a November ballot that itself has not yet been finalized. This is after the state begins issuing IOUs in bulk in July.

Destroying public artwork is destruction of state property, and it belongs to the citizens. It's just wrong for the Governor to destroy it. LePage is an utter douchebag. He will cost Maine in lost tourism dollars. He'll sell any state asset to the highest bidder, so we can be suburban and developed and lose our character.

I used to own a small business. LePage is not pro-business, he's pro-big-business.
