I totally agree Miko. The poor pup is exhibiting a submissive smile. Sometimes dogs will also lick their own mouths. It's a sign of deep insecurity, even fear, of disapproval from his human.
I found it hard to watch the video because the dog owner, without intending to, is kind of terrifying the poor dog.
My dog flashes the same submissive smile briefly when I come in the house, along with all the tail wagging and general happiness. He doesn't do that to anyone else, so does that mean he views me as the alpha?
Not being a dog person I was wondering about that baring of teeth. I thought it is a sign of aggression when a dog does that.
Can one of you dog people explain this?
