It's Time To Let Ghostbusters Die: A Defense of Bill Murray. [More:] This is not a topic I'd actually given much thought to, but this article makes several excellent points. Also, I'm tired of reboots, rehashes, and remakes, so anybody trying to quash that impulse in Hollywood is speaking sense to me, even though they're bound to fail.
There was a Ghostbusters II?

Having looked at Ghostbusters II on IMDB I have a feeling I saw it but I've buried the memory way down deep.

I honestly can't figure out if I ever saw it or not.

The only thing I remember about Ghostbusters II is that the baby was played by John Denver's nephews. Don't know why I've managed to retain that, but I have.

Also, I adore Bill Murray. The scene in Rushmore when Max pipes the bees into his hotel room and you see his face go from confusion to admiration to terror in the span of seconds is one of my favorite bits of acting in anything ever. If he doesn't want a Ghostbusters III, so be it.

The best thing about Ghostbusters 2 is that it made "What is Ghostbusters 2?" possible.

No, the best thing about Ghostbusters II was the theme song, sung by Bobby Brown. Here's a sample of the lyrics:

Too hot to handle, too cold to hold
They're called the Ghostbusters and they're in control
Had 'em throwin' a party for a bunch of children
While all the while the slime was under the building
So they packed up their group, got a grip, came equipped
Grabbed their proton packs off their back and they split
Found about Vigo, the master of evil
Try to battle my boys? That's not legal!

This is weird - I also can't figure out if I've seen Ghostbusters 2? The plotpoints seems a bit familair, but I can't actually recall a single scene.

I've never seen the "What is Ghostbusters 2" thing before - so thanks for that.

Oh crap I saw Ghostbusters II. I do remember Peter MacNicol and his horrible accent. "Is Weego!".

I must have seen it because when I see Viggo Mortensen in a preview I do the same thing.

Peter MacNicol

Now there's an actor who can pretty much make me hate ANY movie. I guess I haven't seen this, or I'd remember hating him in it.

Also, I too adore Bill Murray.

Ghostbusters II? Yeah I saw it. Mainly I remember the pilsbury dough boy (or the michelin man, or whatever it was). I remember it generally being a disappointment, but not completely terrible.

DarkForest, I believe you're confusing Ghostbusters 2 with Ghostbusters. The scene you're remembering is the one where a giant Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man comes to life and attacks the city. And it's hilarious.

In Ghostbusters 2, it's the Statue of Liberty, and for some reason the Ghostbusters are riding inside it and steering it through downtown using Nintendo controllers. And it's stupid.
