New favorite made up French phrase: Joie de Ville The happiness that comes from interacting with your town/city/village in the shared pubic spaces and local shops.
Thus we can say some neighborhoods have much Joie de Ville while some have none at all.

It's odd, 'cause I don't speak a lick of French (though I can get around pretty well with Spanish), but I was thinking the other day that "je ne sais moi" was a fairly fun turn of phrase. I'm sure it's not very original, and it probably isn't grammatically correct, but it made me grin a bit.

I'll drive my Cadillac Coupe de Ville from New Orleans' Maison de Ville to Austin's Club DeVille while listening to the music of Willy DeVille (and his band Mink De Ville) and remembering the villain in 101 Dalmations... what was her name?

(if you overthrow your mayor, is that a coup de ville?)

I once used the handle Joey De Vivre. Then I googled it to find that so did many others. That's when I realized it is impossible to ever come up with an original idea.

The phrase came to me, BTW, when I was out doing a bunch of errands and...the Baker had the semolina out when I got to the counter, the girl at the wine shop noticed my hair when I ran into her buying tonic in the deli where they have a kitten who likes to be petted by patrons and she said her dad owns the shop and she helps out, the barman from around the corner mentioned I could use a haircut, which is funny cause I used to barback there and the other barback is now a hairdresser up the street and yes, I should go there for a cut, and the butcher in the big market cross the street knew exactly how much ground I wanted, the charity shop had this really cool tie and I promised them some old lamps I found, cause the barmen told me he was trying to give away his old lamps. That collective nice fuzzy village feeling? Joie de Ville.
