Today I made my residency in California official. Who can guess where this is leading? (No, not voting in Cali, but that is a side benefit. After all, this is where moderate Democrats are, relatively, right of center extremists.)
You're gonna run for governor. (I hear it's practically a spectator sport out there.)

Hmm, run for governor. That's not such a half-bad idea. Maybe I'll start smaller though.

Mayor?

I was thinking Lieutenant Governor.

I always think of California as a really conservative state.

Pedicinal Mot? I hear those cards are rather easy to come by.

Heh. Good on you. I may or my not have a friend that has found herself scoring *cough* for the first time in her 35-year-old life for her mother who is currently undergoing chemo. Moms is quite appreciative.

We're at least a decade or a Federal Law away from that being on the up and up here, which is really sad. And I say this as someone that, despite concerted efforts, never really enjoyed that stuff.

Oh, I am so naive- I thought you were going to take classes at a state school for the discounted in-state rate.
You should do that too.

Actually, there is an interesting assortment of state-wide elected offices here in Californium: Secretary of State (because we really need someone handling our foreign policy), Comptroller (because we are not usually under comptrol), Commissioner of Public Education (yep, that's the full title) and Insurance Commissioner (lo-o-o-ong story).

California frequently commits collective acts of utter awfulness (of which "Prop H8" is only the latest; in the 60s, the state passed a proposition that tried to overturn the Federal Fair Housing Act), but there are occasional good moments - I'm beginning to believe the Second Coming of Jerry Brown may be better than expected.

But be careful out here... there have been several local "law enforcement" jurisdictions that have taken obnoxious efforts to undercut the Medical Marijuana laws, so try to avoid legal providers who resemble past illegal providers you've known. (I'm also one who has tried it and been underwhelmed, but I have neighbors who tell some tales...)

But seriously, having been one of the few United States that has avoided Snowmageddon this winter, I can recommend the weather, you'll never run out of good produce (or wine - and this is where Trader Joe's got his start), and 3 of the four late night talk shows made in L.A. are worth seeing (Kimmel has recent shown solid improvement). Just be sure to stay close to the coast and away from counties named after fruit.

I'm disabled by heart disease so I need a position that doesn't demand much stress. I delegate very well. Cuz of that, too, paying for college now doesn't make much sense, and that is why I watch 2 or 3 video college classes every day.

I think I would make a great Lt. Gov.

''I always think of California as a really conservative state''

conservatives who want to be Swedish Canadians for photo ops.

Low-fat brownies made w/ a nice sativa strain for a head buzz that won't tax the ol' ticker.

Damn I wish marijuana were legal everywhere.

BECAUSE I FREAKING LOVE THE STUFF.

(And haven't had any in months, so if the Thought Police come and break up my shit for posting this they're gonna find nothing but a big fat harassment suit.)

Very nice. I've had my card for a few months now and ... just man.

(I always recommend indica for the body highs ... and it won't make you such a space cadet. Depending on whether you consider that a bug or a feature.)

35 years ago I was very very glad to get out of California, even the beach towns where I spent my childhood and early 20's.

I really enjoy going back, though (esp in Winter).

There are some places there I could live now. Mt. Shasta. Twain Harte. Mendecino. Ojai. Sunset in SF. Groveland.

I'd live in San Diego or even L.A. if I had a great job. Sometimes I do miss driving. I take that back, I miss driving a lot. I always love being able to re-fill the memory map when I drive from Orange County to L.A. for pork buns in Chinatown or something else like that.

And to Ardiril: Congrats on being able to reduce your stress levels, through brownies! :)
