I'm waaaay ahead of the curve. I've always known insects make a nice tasty snack. Last summer when we had pantry moths at Swan's End, I had lots of fun stalking and eating them, even if I had to make three- or four-foot leaps into the air to catch them. Then the person sanitized the kitchen and wiped them out. Bitch.
I remember when I visited George in 2004 Brood X was about to hatch, with tens of millions of cicadas expected to hatch in Ohio. There were lots of restaurants offering cicada dishes, most of which were using them as you'd use prawns (shrimp).
As it turned out, the March and April leading up to the hatchings in May were incredibly rainy, and this affected the hatching. I can't say I was exactly sorry, I wasn't looking forward to swarms of this huge flies everywhere, and there was no way I would have eaten them, except accidentally if one flew into my mouth (which, thankfully, did not come to pass).
