What are you eating today (either related to the Super Bowl or not)?[More:]

I'm having artichoke dip, guacamole, and spiced pistachios during the game. For dinner, a pot roast that I cooked slooooowly in red wine yesterday.

You?
Tonight, shredded BBQ pork and sweet potato fries. Plus some soft pretzel things with jalapenos inside. And lots of Crystal Light lemonade, and probably something a little stronger later.

Thanks to this AskMe I'm making haluski for my brother's party.

We are having black beans and fried plantains with an avocado/orange/red onion/lime/cilantro salad (salsa?) type thingy. Not related to The Game.

Just finished a homemade oatmeal packet with cranberries, pecans and a bit of brown sugar. I added in some fresh blueberries from the fridge.

I think there will be ballpark nachos and beer for game time. Can you tell I won't be near the tv?

No cable here, but I am thinking salmon cakes.

I had a ham and cheese omelette for brunch, and I just had dinner - chicken stuffed with a whole head of garlic, a lemon cut in two, a handful of herbs, a drizzle of olive oil and salt & pepper over the skin, then roasted, served with broccoli, carrots, cauliflower and asparagus.

I have raspberries for dessert, which I'll eat with crème fraîche.

I went to the pub and had chicken and chips and a beer and did a crossword puzzle.

I still can't cook properly (bandaged hand) so I've been subsisting mostly on prepared foods or the simplest possible recipes. The cupboard is getting pretty bare, though.

I think today I'll cook down the last bit of black bean soup until it's nice and thick, put it in a dish with an egg or two, and have baked eggs coddled in black bean goop. We also have a bit of leftover guacamole which A) should go well with the dish and B) seems thematically appropriate for Game Day.

For breakfast I had bacon, fried eggs, tomatoes and a slice of bread. For dinner a Marks and Spencers Seafood Stew and some more bread, followed by yoghurt.

I had an egg fried in soy sauce, sesame oil and sriracha over steamed jasmine rice, and a big bowl of fruit salad (breakfast of champions). Lunch will be broccoli pasta, I imagine. Dinner will be bar food and alcohol. GO STEELERS!

I had a Steakburger from Freddy's for lunch. Grilling up chicken fajitas with all of the fixins for dinner, snow be damned.

Ikkyu2 is making chili and I'm making guacamole. I think they'll end up being game-time food which makes them something between lunch and dinner.

No cable required. The game is on Fox.

I just returned from a brunch outing, and I had an omelet made with goat cheese, caramelized onions, and mushrooms. Wheat toast and some potatoes too.

No Super Bowl party for me so I got some beer and a favorite snack/junk food: wild rice sticks.

grilled salmon on an onion roll for lunch. Pizza for dinner.

Basic chicken drumsticks with Essence of Emeril seasoning. Mashed potatoes too.

Reheating some homemade pizza for lunch that we had last night - mushrooms, green pepper, grilled zucchini and summer squash with pepperoni. Chicken curry for dinner. No Superbowl here, but it's a nice day, maybe a drive.

No antenna either, just streaming Netflix.

Yesterday I made iconomy's Sunday Gravy from the crockpot thread and it was AMAZING. We had it last night over spaghetti; tonight, it will be meatball subs with fresh mozzarella on top. YUM.

Egg sandwich with roasted red peppers and chipotle cheddar on a bagel for breakfast/brunch, veggie lasagna ready to go in the oven for lunch/dinner.

I just finished brewing a batch of Fuggles IPA, too, though it won't be ready to drink for a month or more.

Strips of chicken breast, bell pepper and onions done fajita-style, fried hot, and then put into quesadillas. Guacamole. And then the wild card, Vinho Verde.
posted by danf 06 February | 17:40
Yes, and he has been, brujita, but he works nights --- for dinner, I'm on my own.

Mmm, those baked eggs in black beans were gooooooooood!

The kids are roasting chicken and making scalloped potatoes. I am opting in.

In retrospect:

Oatmeal with cinnamon and raisins, coffee.

Water spinach with spicy Malaysian shrimp paste, pan-fried crispy noodles with seafood, Thai-style fish cakes.

Sushi, miso soup.

Had the most meat I've eaten for over a month this past weekend, due to dinner out with my husband and a friend at a Korean restaurant this past Friday, followed by the repast my husband cooked up for me for the game yesterday: humongous barbecued beef ribs, carrot/cabbage cole slaw, baked beans, garlic bread, and baked sweet potato "french fries." I also had a glass of wine, the third for the weekend (one on Friday, one on Saturday, one last night) after a dry January.

It was delicious but I think I'm returning to my vegetarian/vegan and alcohol free ways now . . . I like going without meat and drinking very little to no alcohol.
