I've been poking around AskMe and found some links that should prove useful.

I need to get over the speed bump that is me thinking, "It's just a phone." I want to learn to DO ALL THE THINGS!

Even things that I don't do now, like read blogs. So that's why I'm going to investigate an RSS reader. Because that's what I think people use to read things.

The BF is jealous of my cool new phone. Ha ha.

Maybe I'll even start tweeting again!

Some of my favorite apps:

RSS reader = Pulse. (It has a great interface and can import feeds from Google reader, but unfortunately for now you can only have 20-25 feeds.)

Twitter = Twidroyd. I've tried a half-dozen others and always come back to this one.

Fun camera app = Vignette.

If you keep a lot of MP3s on it: Museek.

Google Listen is cool for always having fresh podcasts to listen to, and make sure you upgrade Google Maps to the latest version.

If you like the show "This American Life," their app will provide HOURS of entertainment.

When you're visiting friends, Liquor Run Mobile helps you find nearby sources of adult beverages, complete with maps and business hours.

And lastly, the Associated Press and the BBC both have pretty sweet news apps.

Now you know why my partner thinks my phone has grown into my hand. Heh.

AAHH!! I just got a free kindle book on Amazon - and it magically showed up on my phone, like instantly! I'm so excited! (Can you tell I don't have an e-reader?)

And I get to go home early because of the snow here in Chicago so I can play with my phone all afternoon. This is the greatest day ever.

Thanks for posting that big purchase thread, Ardiril. I don't think I would have made the leap without you making me contemplate it.

I feel like such a Luddite that I am posting this from an old Dell mini-tower computer.

And thanks for the app suggestions, BP. Liquor Run Mobile would probably prove useful - especially if we're on vacation in an unfamiliar city.

RSS - I use the Google Reader app.

Twitter - I use the official Twitter app, just callled Twitter

Music - I use WinAmp (Really!) which is actually the best music app that
I've found and I think I've used them all

Weather Bug is handy.

A Flashlight has come in handy many times. I use TeslaLED but there are many.

Google Goggles is fun to play with.

Ooh, a WinAmp app. We use WinAmp for all our music at home, even syncing our ipods, so that will probably come in handy.

What about a bar code scanner? Is there really a difference between them all or can I just get the highest rated free one?

I like the free bar code scanner, and it works fine.

I really like Shazam, fyi. And if you like recorded books, you may like the audible.com app as much as I do, too.

Oh, and Double Twist does a great job syncing my Droid with Itunes.

I just found the AudioBooks app which has thousands of free audio books, mostly classics.

Oooo I really wanted to go with the HTC or some other driod-like thingy, but the upgrade to a Blackberry Torch was free. Really mixed feelings over going that route. I don't miss the trackball (or replacing it every 3000 miles), and I like the bigger screen that goes portrait and landscape, but I dont like the slidey function on the Torch & sort of wish they'd just dropped the manual button keyboard. *sigh* maybe a droid is next.
