Saturday Motivation Thread, Random Crap Version OK, bunnehs, wake up (Or stay up!) and Get Things Done! What's on your to do list? Hold me accountable for mine, and I'll reciprocate![More:]

This is particularly important because I'm having a Big Party For A Milestone Birthday on Friday, and guests are coming to stay with me. On top of regular Saturday chores, I have a lot of stuff/crap to either get rid of or find places for.

So here we go.

1) General cleaning--kitchen, bathrooms
2) Declutter den, including the weird crap that's lying around on the mantle, behind that recliner, and on top of the entertainment center. Vacuum.
3) Declutter the living room, including finding places for the books on the other buffet. Clean off surfaces, swiffer.
4) Put stuff out in the shed that belongs there instead of in the house or lying around outside. Rake? Saw Horses? They do not stay outside. They get put away. Do you hear me, Stew?
5) Put stuff up in attic that needs to go there.
6) Find a place for the dehydrator and put it away.
7) Deal with the dying poinsettia somehow. Ditto with the peace lily.
8) Sweep and mop the kitchen floor already. Sheesh it's nasty.
9) Identify other things to do as necessary and do them.
10) Do not get distracted with non-essentials like cleaning out closets.
1. Pick up the dirty clothes, treat the stains and call the cleaners to pick them up (I have other things to do before I leave for DC, so don't have time to do the laundry myself).
2. Pay bills!
3. Buy train ticket.
4. Take out trash.

1) Go look at a house for sale with my realtor (done).

2) Get up to date on my billable hours for the month (i.e., work).

3) Do some laundry.

4) If there's time, start getting clothes together to give to Goodwill.

Red Sox tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. After waiting for an hour in an online queue, there was nothing left. Oh well.

Now, off to pay bills and eat leftover dinner for breakfast/lunch.

Done with this. Even cleaned the ashes from the fireplace!

1. Tidy bedrooms (not done yet)

2. Go to farm shop (done)

3. Clean sitting room, kitchen, bathroom, hall (done)

4. Do some laundry (not done)

5. Do the RSPB birdwatch. I did it this morning, but picked a bad time with only the magpies and wood pigeons around, so I'll give it another bash tomorrow in the hope that the robins, blackbirds, bluetits, dunnocks and chaffinches will show up.

Does anyone else have the problem of only feeling good briefly about accomplishments and then being "meh, that's not enough!"

Anyone else making progress?

Cleared schedule today to go pick up horse from hospital whenever they called to let me know she was ready. Then they told me this morning she probably needs one more night of observation, but maaaaybe this afternoon they'll call and say she can come home.

Eh. I feel steamrollered today, so I'm not too upset about not getting anything done today, or the uncertainty about this afternoon. Think maybe I will nap until the phone rings.

Household bills - done!

Videostore! (doesn't count as a chore, since I'm getting movies to reward myself for doing chores. So, sort of a meta-chore.) - done!

Library return, pick up ILL books - done!

Post office - done!

physical therapy walk a mile instead! - done!

Still to do:
Call Mom for fiddly scheduling family stuff
Ice my back
Tidy the kitchen as much as my bandage will allow
Ditto living room
Oven-cook dried black beans
Thaw cake and soak in citrus syrup (for sister's birthday)
Make black bean soup
Sort oout hospital bill/financial stuff
aaaaaand
Reward myself with "Life on Mars" and a great dinner!

ooo.

- get off my butt and run (done)
- laundry
- sweep and vacuum the house (it's a tiny house, though)
- do something with the last of the fall apples, which have been hanging on but are looking pretty rough - I think I will make some mini pies and crumbles and freeze them before baking
- sew the steek on this sweater and finish the collar and graft the armholes (I HATE grafting)
- go to the farmer's market (I better get going actually!)

oooh, peachfuzz, I forgot: we have a new vacuum. It's small and cordless, and I could totally use it one-handed, so by rights, I should add "vacuuming" to my list.

... but I'm not going to.

We did NOTHING today! Really nothing. Goofed around online, went for a drive in the gentle snow, went out for pizza and the movie Made in Dagenham.

Tomorrow I have to do many things:

-send some coordination type emails about the spoken word event we are working on
-rearrange a couple items of furniture
-plan out the week's meals and grocery shop
-go to the gym and fill out a form for direct withdrawal of my gym fee
-clean off my desk
-do budget things
-heck I could even do my taxes if I'm highly motivated...I have all my documents now so there's no excuse

OK. I'm going to get back at it today. Yesterday, I actually did accomplish quite a bit even if I felt like I slacked. It's just that I have guests and that party to deal with. Argh!

I'm so much better in the morning than the evening, so hopefully today is The Day to Clean All The Things.

Miko: I could totally do my taxes, too. I have all the tools/paperwork. We'll see.

Next on the list will be the things I can do easily and cross off. I will:
--Get rid of the poinsettia and dead peace lily
--Find a place for the dehydrator.

One thing I neglected to mention that I got done yesterday was: Clean out the ashes from the fireplace.

(I'm feeling anxious about starting, so wish me luck!)
posted by Stewriffic 30 January | 07:42
Oh shit, I did mention the ashes. Shows you how much I paid attention to what I was talking about!

OK, I'm starting for real now.

WOO HOO!! GO ELO FOR MOTIVATING ME!

Waning. But the kitchen is way cleaner, some laundry is put away, and I made black beans and rice. And the dehydrator has a place.

Next on list:
Unload dishes
Put away rice and beans. Pack up in little tupperwares for work.
Put second load of laundry in dryer; hang up the bathroom rug to dry.

Whoo hoo, good work, Stew!

I cooked my black beans, tidied up a bit, made an appetizer for my sister's birthday party ( at her house today) and a dessert for her birthday dinner (at my house tomorrow), and did some fiddly family stuff. That leaves a couple of items left to do today, but nothing too big. Yay!

Next up:
Put away dishes in drainer
Do black beans and rice dishes
Finish cleaning off main kitchen counter
Clean off table
Put away second load of laundry
Wash sheets and duvet cover? Or should I wait to do that until right before the party?

I've been derailed by a very unfortunate dishwasher installation snafu. There's a screw going into the bottom of the laminate counter. It has become stripped and is now near impossible to close the dishwasher. Not sure how to fix this, either, because the particleboard (? not sure if that's the right way to refer to this. Maybe MDF?) won't hold the screw. Argh.
