Oh hai, spooky monkey - the Golden Snub-nosed Monkeys live in northern China are adorable (or adorably alien) in appearance.
Dammit, man, haven't you ever heard of Monkeyfilter?

Not as spooktacular as the Black Snub-Nosed Monkey, also known as the Yunan Golden Monkey. Featured in Wild China, worth catching on Netflix.

It's weird when these little things pop up. My best friend since second grade (whom I didn't see for ten years, life being what it was) popped up randomly in Madison about a year after I moved here, and she's now studying the Yunnan snub-nosed monkey for her PhD. She's been to China a few times, and I've been regaled with lots of interesting stories about monkey diets and dealing with the bureaucracy of China, particularly as it relates to endangered critters. I've been working on a painting of the monkeys for her for a while now.

Anywho, yes! Weird monkey is weird! In addition to just plain looking spooky, the Yunnan snub-nosed monkey mostly eats lichen, a trait it shares with reindeer. So, just picture reindeer antlers on the monkey and you've now got the image that's in my head whenever I look at them now that I've heard about Heidi's research.
