What is the easiest way to make a ringtone? I want to make a ring tone as a gift for someone. It's a song that I can't find online anywhere as a ring tone already. [More:] I've seen this site and this, but if I buy the song from iTunes it's won't be an mp3, which appears to be the format I need. So do I then need additional software to convert the song to mp3? It is all seeming very complicated.
Ooh, I downloaded it as an mp3 from Amazon. One problem solved, I think.

I use Myxer.com, which allows you to edit mp3s when you upload them to their site (as far as I can remember from the last time I did it). If you have a Verizon phone, there's a workaround that you have to do (emailing it from a computer to the phone) but they give you instructions on how to do that. You also have to sign up for a free account and I've never gotten any spaminess from them.

A lot depends on the phone and the carrier. Sometimes it's as easy as just selecting any mp3 on your phone (like I can do with my Blackberry 8530 on Verizon).
