Why thank you!

I've seen magpies do a similar thing on a freshly-mown hill and the silly galah's at my parents place like to roll on their backs and play ball games with the seed pods off mum's liquid amber tree.

Somehow we don't tend to think of birds as playful so it's always a nice surprise.

:) made me smile.

Are they for sure playing? OR is this like a bathing technique, maybe helping with itch from lice, etc?

How sweet... they're very intelligent. I once watched a crow try to pick up some saltines my father had thrown out in the backyard, and, discouraged, drop them, then proceed to stack the crackers one on top of the other, scoop up the stack in his beak, and fly away.

Raven snow play is ADORABLE.

I was thinking this was related to preening behavior too, but it's so cute it doesn't matter what the purpose is. CUTE! The other videos in the series were neat, too. But then I'm a bird lover.

Pips, I've seen crows and ravens do stuff like that, too. Super-smart birds.

And this video was awesome. Thanks, Ardiril.

Just so happens that I am going to "Friends or Foes? Facing the Facts about American Crows" at tonight's Science Pub.

Is Science Pub a local thing, or do other regions have them? I can't believe that Oregon is the only place that these groovy things happen.
