Today's song in the December Musical Giftstravaganza is "Christmas," by The Opal Foxx Quartet.[More:] The OFQ were an Atlanta band (with way more than 4 members- usually more like 10 or 12) led by the inimitable Miss Opal Foxx, who was actually a thin gravel-voiced man known as Benjamin, who wore granny dresses and horn-rimmed glasses while belting out beautiful, raw, emotional songs. Other OFQ members included redneck poet and chainsaw enthusiast Deacon Lunchbox, and also Bill Taft, who's already appeared once before in this year's Giftstravaganza.
This song has lots of character! Thanks, BP!
