13 December 2010

I really liked that game.

Until I put in "fume" and the computer changed it to "fumy"

I was stumped.

Stupid game.

Ouch.

Watch out. It uses non-english words, like dona. Dong ftw.

Swig > Twig > Twin > Twit > I WIN!!!!

Think I'll retire and go out on top.

Grr. Lost at 101 words.

Congratulations, you win!

I thought I was doing well, until I saw maudlin's score. Still, a win is a win and I'll take it!

No, your win is a win. I stuck around for 101 words and still got my ass kicked.
posted by maudlin 13 December | 04:03
A loss at 89 words, to "huge."

Well, that's that.

Also "khat" would have been a perfectly good word to make out of "khan". :|
posted by notquitemaryann 13 December | 05:56
It wouldn't let me use "bonk", yet it used "pone" itself (what's a "pone"?). Humph.

(35 words used in my game)

Got up to 277 on a roll and still lost.

ibcmcginty, it didn't think of "twat?" Or are certain four-letter words verboten?

I love the game, but it needs a better dictionary.

Lost at 269 :( Would be nice to know what dictionary it's using.
posted by chrismear 13 December | 07:19
It gave me "homo" but wouldn't accept "pomo."

Lost on 3 words. WTF?

Skillz.

Bad dictionary.
posted by Hugh Janus 13 December | 09:31
"Pone" is cornbread, johnnycake.

The game told me "cosh" was not a real four-letter word. I'd like to hit that dictionary with a short blunt metal stick and shout "What do you call this thing?" THUD! "Well what is it?" WHUMP! "What?" CRUNCH!

won with 12 words. feel like a bit of a loser compared to the rest of you. off to play again!
posted by gaspode 13 December | 09:41
A loser? Hey, I think the goal is to win! You and fleacircus are pretty impressive.

I just wrote the game author to mention some of the limitations of the dictionary. Great game though.

OH NO. I just remembered that game that I used to have a series problem with...WEBoggle. Oh no. I am not allowed to go there today.
posted by Miko 13 December | 10:03
Looks like it uses Dictionary.com. From their site: "Clicking on a word opens a window with the definition inside of it. (Please Note: RobinWords is not affiliated in any way with Dictionary.com)"

And gaspode, I think a shorter game is harder to achieve than a long one. I kept trying to end it by using words I didn't think the computer could change but it just went on - and is actually still going on - so I think if you're able to end it soon, that's even more of an achievement.
posted by nelvana 13 December | 11:25
Ok so I'm a loser at 69 words. Fun game though - thanks Miko!
posted by nelvana 13 December | 11:29
Yeah, it's like playing "Dots" -- winning is leaving your opponent with no more moves.

Yay me!

Stupid game didn't know what a bris was tho'. Hrm. Neither does Firefox.

Doesn't know what a barm or a farl is, with its stupid lack of knowledge of Irish and north of England starch-based edible products.

You and fleacircus are pretty impressive.

I merely got amusingly, totally lucky. And plus, CRUD. The other games have been me getting my butt kicked around in circles.
posted by fleacircus 13 December | 17:49
I won my first game with four words and am in the middle of a second game. I've paused to come over here and report it will accept a certain four letter word for a woman's parts, beginning with a C. That is all.
posted by youngergirl44 13 December | 19:17
Finally won one, after 102 words! "Zany" FTW. (Literally.)
posted by BoringPostcards 13 December | 19:18
GAR! Lost at 105. Stupid java... I had already used lava.
posted by youngergirl44 13 December | 19:20
Lost one after 21 words, won one after 24. My first attempt I lost after 5 words and twice I abandoned the game after not being able to come up with a legal word though the game told me some existed... one interesting thing about the game is there's no apparent penalty for typing in a 'non-word' so if I'm stuck I can just keep typing in guesses of which letter to change, but when it reaches that point, it's just not fun anymore.
posted by oneswellfoop 13 December | 20:26
Yeah, and I kind of wish there was a "give up" button that would show me what a playable word would have been. Fun mental exercise though. And on my final round: won on the 216th word with "Ills".
