I've let my beard go completely untamed this season, children have started running away from me and strangers on the street keep trying to give me spare change.

Does the beard have to be on your face?

Yeah I only recently grew a beard. I am now in the midst of letting is grow a little longer, due to winter setting in. I did enjoy the icicles in my beard while tromping through some northern ontario woods yesterday!

Is this going to be a contest to see who gets to ZZTop first or who can do the most evil-twin-looking goatee?

I avoid growing a beard at this time of year because kids will want to sit on my lap and tell me what they want, and you can just IMAGINE what kind of trouble that will get me into (BTW, I got a "Magan's Law" flyer in my mailbox the other day telling me two of my neighbors are Registered Sex Offenders... considering the neighborhood, I'm almost surprised there aren't more... but I digress). After the new year I may "let my face grow long", to quote the John, but I recently got a 2-for-1 deal on 10-packs of cheap disposable razors. Yeah, after using them for three more weeks, I'll probably NEED to give my face a rest.

I don't grow a beard, I only stop shaving. The beard just happens.

I think the mister wins. This was from two years ago, but he's grown it out again this winter. His current beard is a couple inches longer.

I would grow a beard, but I'm looking for a job, and men who are in the process of beard-growing are routinely discriminated against by potential employers.

Does a goatee count as a beard? If so, I'm already there. I shave it off at the start of the Christmas holidays each year, then stop shaving while I'm on holiday ready to go back to work looking normal again.

I just got myself a rechargeable beard trimmer for xmas. The first time out of the box, it carves a huge divot out. Now my beard is shorter than it has been for several years. so grow it must.
