Must I needz jacket and tie? [More:]My wife's boss just gave her a gift certificate to the Flemmings Steakhouse in Indianapolis. (It's for our 30th anniversary. Yay us!)

Anyone know if I need to drag-out my old, ill-fitting jacket and a tie from the back of my closet? We don't get out much anymore, and it's been years since I had to wear a jacket for anything other than a funeral or wedding.
I don't see a tie on any of the jolly diners pictured on the website, and hardly any jackets.

What you NEED to do is order me a rare petite filet mignon. With some sort of potato side dish, I'm not picky.

You definitely won't need a tie. Steakhouses like Flemings are "business casual." A jacket is nice, but not required. I doubt they'd turn away anyone for wearing jeans.

My friends and I ate at Flemings in Baltimore quite often. We all always wore jeans (coming from work).

Yeah, I've been to the Flemings in Marlton, NJ several times and you don't need a jacket. Very few restaurants actually require people to dress up anymore, which is maybe a little sad.

Oh, you know what I thought was neat there, though? They had white cloth napkins on the table, but when they saw I was wearing black pants they brought me a black cloth napkin, so I wouldn't get white lint on my pants.

So, some casual pants, sweater and shirt will be fine? That combo I can put-together, I think.

Well, you should probably also wear some shoes . . .

Oh. Drat.

Socks will make those shoes more comfortable.

Goes without saying.

Thorzdad, I'd say your outfit (with shoes n socks ocourse) sounds just fine. There isn't a word about a dress code on the website. And congratulations on reaching the Big 30 mark!

Thanks all.
As you can probably tell, it's been a long, long time since we've rubbed elbows with anything above the brew-pub level of eatin' out places. And, being gainfully unemployed, I have a real issue with not appearing like I'm some bum trying to fit-in with the income-blessed crowd. It's a self-image problem entirely of my own making, but, I still get nervous.

Thanks, again, for the reassurance!
