(only Thanksgiving has never been and never will be "unmarked" for me -- it's always qualified as Canadian or American.)

The eating and drinking started a couple of hours ago. Looks like it will continue into the next year.

I'm a vegetarian, but I found a rooster off craigslist for $5 that will be Thanksgiving dinner. They were going to kill him anyway. It's the "I wanted egg layers, but this bird grew into a boy" season.

I wanted to bring something really good to the potluck, and it was either this rooster or Quorn. Somehow "local happy chicken" seemed like a better option than "grown in a vat on a different continent and combined with other things from far, far away and shoved into a box that may or may not be recyclable."

So, um. Happy Thanksgiving to y'all, too! Here's hoping it dies quickly, and that I don't accidentally cut into the intestines when trying to figure out how to gut the thing. Here's hoping also that I can figure out how to cook it!
