I may be inspired by this... My violin, which was given to me by a great uncle about 40 years ago, is stuck away in a closet at my ex's house... time to go get it...

enjoy that mellow sound....

LOL Madamina!

HuronBob, I have discovered that the viola is very forgiving! (As well as mellow and rich of course.) The medium squeaks produced on a viola are much less painful than the high squeaks produced on a violin.

Is this the same one I saw?

Nope, different one but same maker.

That's great, Melismata; I hope you have tons of fun playing it, even if a viola's tone is nasal and rubberbandy compared with a violin's sonorous heights. I'm splitting hairs, comparing alto and soprano cherubim in an angel choir, I know.

Go strings!

It is a beauty! With my fingers, I doubt I will ever have the opportunity to play such a fine instrument properly, and I am envious.

Ooh, pretty. This thread is a nice example of viola players being attacked from both sides, but we're a cosy, friendly bunch :)

I had a random thought today: || Hey, did anyone else notice that Twitter is re-directing to the Washington Post?
