Ain't that a kick in the head? So my wife just heard the latest from home. It seems that a few day ago her 70+ dad was fixing something on the basement stairs. He fell and landed on his head. Stubborn old goat that he is, he didn't go to the emergency room.[More:]

A few days later, he complained that his shoulder was still sore, so they finally went to the doctor. He should is just bruised but.... they x-rayed and MRIed his head and it turns out he fractured his skull in the fall.

They said at this point, the fracture is healing okay and there is nothing else to do. Except don't fall anymore.

Stubborn old goat.
That is one tough old guy.

I have an older brother who fell and hit his head and ignored it. He's also 70+, and several months later went to the emergency room with a headache and ended up in a coma.

He's better now.

Well, they looked everything over and said he's okay upstairs. Except for being a stubborn old goat.

Twenty-some years ago, he didn't set the brake right on his tractor. It ran him over and the rake caught him and dragged him. They said he would never walk again; he was up and around 2 or 3 months later.
