Somebody has a case of the Mondays [More:]

... I just bought one of those.

How's your Monday?
It's been ok. The weather has been glorious - clear, cold and sunny - but I had to attend a meeting from 12-2 and so didn't get out at lunchtime.

The walk home from the station was lovely, though dark. My favourite kind of day is a cold autumn day.

Dinner is nearly ready (chicken, rice, flatbread, salad) and then it's crap TV night - Australian Masterchef (I have such a crush on Jonathan, but want sweet little Alvin to win), followed by Dating in the Dark and then ANTM (Season 14). I justify this because I've been reading complicated/boring shit all day and my brain needs some downtime.

Just got Decemberists tickets for February. . .the first sit-down show that I have ever heard of from them.

Got great seats though.

Sinus headache, streaming nose (when it isn't completely blocked) and coughing like a seal. Eating Dayquil every 4 hours on the dot. Every time I put my head down further than about 10 degrees, my head feels twice its size. Weirdly enough, when I'm just sitting at my desk working, I don't feel too bad. Don't think I'll be going for my long run today.

I'm not quite that far gone, but my good friend NyQuil (or the CVS equivalent) did jack squat last night, and I was all, "eh, I'm not going in." One working nostril (for various criteria of "working"), tonsils the size of Cleveland and just as polluted.

And wouldn't you know it? I'm getting more done here than I would have there.

Luckily, I somehow managed to pull off a Carol Brady Christmas Miracle in church yesterday (background: I usually sub as soloist/section leader for the heavily populated alto section, but yesterday was O HAI UR THE ONLY FIRST SOPRANO AND ITZ ALL UP THERE YO), so at least the crud held off until that was over.

Can't go to the wedding show tonight, though. Boo.

My washing machine broke last night and the only repair service that my landlord will use won't come for a week. That seems like an excessively long time to me.

Gaspode. . .have you ever tried a Neti pot?

Hubby called in sick to work today to have one more day to get ready to face the world. He's killing things on the PS3 right now. Lots of boomage.

Headache. Rats.

Or, if you're scared of the Neti pot (like me), go for Simply Saline. I'm all about the GIANT SIZE NASAL WASH!!!!! (Maybe I should go use it RIGHT NOW.)

Avid user KathrynT recommends the Allergy/Sinus version, which has more salt content.

danf, my neti pot has been my constant companion for years. I love it. Sometimes though, one needs a bigger boat, so to speak.

(hee. the kid calls it my watering can. "Mama, are you going to do the watering can and the nose for boogers?")

This thread is reminding me I need to go get my flu shot. I think I'll go do that today.

A neti pot is something that needs to be done in private. No telling WHAT's gonna come out of there.

I did not get done what needed to get done this weekend.

I still have to go through all of this over the Thankgiving Weekend:

But I got some of it done.

I threw my back out running for the commuter rail train with all of my luggage. Stupid early trains.

I have a 4+ hr. bus ride back to NYC, where my life begins again full throttle. This was like a bitter, mournful, restless vacation, I guess. Thanks to everyone who helped me get through.

Took both my kids to the eye doctor. Son #2 will be getting his first pair of glasses (welcome to the land of the near-sighted, my dear). The troubling thing is son #1's eyes are getting worse, and may be doing so at a rate that will prevent him from joining the Air Force like he wants to do next year. Sigh.

I full out call the janitor with the pink stuff puked at work this morning. Had to be helped to the bathroom, hitting the break room trash can along the way. I came home. I am wicked embarrassed.

I think/hope it was caused by the awful headache I was suffering. I have the big headache drugs and some additional sleep in me and feel ok. Attempting soup.

So, yeah.

On the plus side, I found out Owen Wilson did NOT have a nose job, and I'm not 100% sure about Michael Imperioli, but I think he did. Thank you, Owen.

Inquiring minds want to know if Maddie has an Aussie or American accent.

Also: I have been slacking on my Neti pot use. Must go use now.

Ahem:

Inquiring minds want to know if Maddie has an KIWI or American accent.

I'm going to guess American, since she's lived here all her life...

I'm the same as gaspode pretty much - back to the doctors today for another course of meds. Stupid sinuses.

Feeling lots better mentally, so that's good.

Pissed off because I've been passed over AGAIN, and it may be yet AGAIN in favor of a man. I can't wait to hear the rationale this time.

Home early because Older Boy almost had an Incident at school. Everyone calmed down when he finally talked and it turned out to be an accident rather than Bad Touch.

And I'm home early because fuck them. If they can't move out of their comfort zone and at least give me a damned chance then what am I doing there?
posted by lysdexic 15 November | 17:58
Yeah, she has an American accent, as far as I can tell.

I was just as cross as two sticks a bit ago, but seeing the red stapler and GIANT SIZED WASH cheered me up considerably.

An owl and a kitten are best friends. || So how many times do you wear a pair of jeans before washing it?
