I love cats. They know that they're smaller than anything else but they figure that if they're just crazier than anything else, that no one will screw with them.
Obscure Reference, that was sort of my first thought too. Maybe not the guy filming, since he seemed pretty tourist-y, but one of the more experienced people that seemed to be hanging around. On the other hand, the experienced people may have seen this play out before and had confidence that the cat would be fine.
I had a male cat who was declawed in the front (done before I owned him) but he could hit you so hard with his paws that it stung. He weighed eighteen pounds and hated the world and everyone in it. I wish that I had video of him in full freak-out mode; he'd puff up to twice his already large size and start giving out these blood curdling howls that would scare anyone and anything. I loved that guy.
