A DIFFERENT mp3 thread! (But you should totally do this one, too.) What are your top 10 most-played tracks?[More:]As I mentioned in the other thread, I feel a little disingenuous in the mp3 threads because I always end up posting stuff that I added en masse and don't usually listen to.

So! Here are my top 10 tracks. (I think they're mostly up top because of all the times I listen to my upbeat COME ON, GET TO WORK playlist :P)

1. "Free World" -- Kirsty MacColl, Kite [or Lemurcise!, the workout mix made by my friend Secret Agent Lemur]
2. "Love At First Sight" -- Kylie Minogue, Fever [or Lemurcise!]
3. "Time After Time" -- Mark Williams and Tara Morice, Strictly Ballroom OST
4. "Do Ya" -- ELO, Message from the Country [or Sweatin' with the Lemur... see above...]
5. "Canned Heat" -- Jamiroquai, Synkronized [I loved this song's use in the finale of the otherwise cheesetastic Center Stage, a basic cable mainstay]
6. "Working for the Weekend" -- Loverboy, Get Lucky [or Sweatin' with the Lemur] -- always loved this song, but my favorite use is in Zoolander :)
7. "Theme from Lupin III" -- Pizzicato Five [I am not an anime fan, but I do love me some Japanese disco]
8. "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us" -- Siouxsie and the Banshees, Through the Looking Glass
9. "Mirror in the Bathroom" -- The [English] Beat, I Just Can't Stop It [or Grosse Pointe Blank soundtrack]
10. "Build It Up, Tear It Down" -- Fatboy Slim, You've Come A Long Way, Baby [or Sweatin' with the Lemur]

Bonus: the REAL top two are actually internet feeds of radio stations. 1: The Current (Minnesota Public Radio's alternative station -- God, I wish we had this down here); 2: Wisconsin Public Radio (news and classical music network).

I'm always experimenting with different music apps on my phone so I don't have any way to keep track of totals.

Ooh, fun idea!

!. A.C. Newman, Prophets--I do like this song a lot, but it's also the first in my music library so it maybe gets more than its fair share of plays.

2. Broken West--Auctioneer--Great catchy song from one of my favorite (now-defunct) bands.

3. Janelle Monae--Cold War--seriously, why is she not more famous???

4. Calexico--Alone Again Or--I love pretty much all of Calexico's stuff, but this cover is tops.

5. The Comas--All over the school--very pretty song with a hilariously ambiguous chorus (the lyrics are apparently "feelin' evil" but I SWEAR they say "feel the lemur")

6. Sleigh Bells--Rill Rill--this song is new, I have no idea how it got up so high, but I like it so that's ok.

7. Galactic Heroes--payphone country--another great catchy adorable song from a sadly broken-up band.

8. Roman Candle--Eden was a garden--I love singing along to this alt-country-ish one.

9. Aislers Set--Mission Bells--fuzzy retro pop, good times.

10. American Analog Set--Punk as Fuck--surprisingly a pretty song, considering the title.

Nuts, I can't really do this, due to my girls' bedtime playlist. all my TOP tracks are from that playlist!

For what it's worth, it's tons of Neko Case, some She & Him, Paul Westerberg, Calexico, Wilco...etc.

I listen to most of my music on my MP3 player, which doesn't keep track of number of plays, but here's what Last.FM says are my top 10 songs from the computer:

1 Cheap Trick – Downed - This gets a lot of play on my MP3 player too, so I'm more than OK with this being #1.
2. Buzzcocks – I Don't Mind
3. the Laughing Dogs – Take My Chances - Greatly underrated power pop song/band from the late 70's. I was surprised to see that I played it THAT much.
4. Cheap Trick – Just Got Back
5. Neko Case – This Tornado Loves You - Neko Case is one of my go-to artists when I'm looking for something to listen to while working, so this doesn't surprise me.
6. Neko Case – People Got A Lotta Nerve
7. Fountains of Wayne – Radiation Vibe - One of my ten all time favorite songs
8. Van Halen – Unchained - Easily my favorite VH song, this would probably be higher if my MP3 plays were factored in.
9. Blondie – Hanging On The Telephone
10. Naked Raygun – I Lie - Raygun are my #3 artist according to Last FM - I expected a few of their songs to be here.

Ooh, good call!

Overall, and within the last year, Kirsty and Kylie are still up top on Last.fm, but then there's a bit of a difference between the iTunes and Last.fm lists. (Loverboy, Time After Time and Fatboy Slim are still up there.) But in the last 6 months, it totally counted the 18 times I listened to things trying to make a sort of modern-folky mix cd, so it abruptly changes over to the Pogues and Steeleye Span.

On my home computer, if I filter out my own songs (which I listen to billions of times when mixing them) and short audio clips, and Ensiferum's Iron album which used to start playing automatically when the computer turned on at quarter of five in the morning, I've got

Alhana - Az ึrd๖g Cs๓kja
Baracuda - Ass Up!
Caramell - Caramelldansen
Sentenced - May Today Become the Day
Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell
Edguy - New Age Messiah
Tad Morose - Knowing Me, Knowing You (ABBA cover)
Roxette - Fading Like a Flower
Andy Stewart - The Errant Apprentice
Bruce Dickinson - Devil on a Hog

In alphabetical order:

-> Beatles, Octopus' Garden (The Beatles)
-> June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash, Far Side Banks of Jordan (Press On)
-> Ray Charles, You Are My Sunshine (Modern Sounds in Country and Western)
-> Credence Clearwater Revival, Who'll Stop The Rain (Chronicle Volume 1)
-> Indigo Girls, Southland in the Springtime (Nomads Indians Saints)
-> Patty Loveless, You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive (Mountain Soul)
-> Joni Mitchell, River (Blue) Hey! Both Lists!
-> Joni Mitchell, The Magdalene Laundries (Misses)
-> Bruce Robison, Angry All the Time
-> Dinah Washington, Send Me To the 'Lectric Chair (Sings Bessie Smith)

All of these are on at least 5 playlists, but the one they all share is the one I usually go to when I'm in the car and driving. The Top 25 songs all come from that list, actually.

That's playlist count per individual track ... Of course, if you count songs which I have small collections of covers of, the list would be more like:

-> Frankie and Johnny
-> Single Girl, Married Girl
-> Are You Lonesome Tonight?
-> I Wish I Was a Single Girl Again
-> Long Black Veil
-> I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry
-> Ring of Fire
-> Busted
-> Anathea
-> Pirate Jenny

Alphabetical order:
Bad is Bad – Huey Lewis & The News
Boring – Blink-182
Don’t Need a Gun – Billy Idol
Fire Woman – The Cult
Hell for Leather – Hoodoo Gurus
Keep A Knockin’ – Jimi Hendrix
Money – John Butler Trio
So Far Away – Dire Straits
Welcome to Paradise – Green Day

Doesn't really mean much, though, because this is from my laptop, which is always on shuffle as I listen to music at work more as background rather than with any intent to listen to specific stuff.

Mannnnnn I have so many songs on my computer. I have Winamp set to not collect any stats and I clear my memory regularily. I have music playing constantly, but I have never taken Winamp off shuffle since this most recent computer conifguration 2 years ago. I don't own an iPod cuz i like to hear nature when I'm out and about

Therefore, I just can't answer this question. Sorry

Some of this is so ruined by my listening to audio files to edit them over and over and over again.

oh BitterOldPunk, your number one warms my evil little heart.

okay then

April Stevens - Teach me Tiger - I was editing a big sequence with and trying to match the beats to the stattaco beat. It's a fun song, but not my favorite.

Echo And The Bunneymen - Lips Like Sugar - also used in editing, but I do really like this. Liiiiiiips liiiiike suuuuugar

The Watson Twins - Just Like Heaven - kept trying to time it just right for the transition to a rough scene, but it's really grown on me.

Urusla 1000 - Kinda Kinky - Oh from Metafilter! LP gave me this and I do enjoy it much. I've stolen some snipets for video use.

Souixie & The Banshees - Hong Kong Garden - I used to play this when I was getting dressed for meetings, to pump me up.

Radio Spot 3# Revlon - Audio editing, mixing radio from the 50s into things. I had to clean this up so much....

Shangra-Lais - Sophisticated Boom Boom - I was using this with the one above, but yeah I fucking love the Shangra-Lais.

Roxy Music - Virgina Plain - Part of my hard glittery glam heart.

The Ronettes - Be My Baby - I have a very unhealthy fixation on this song. I want to use it in spaceship movie before I die.

M.I.A - Boyz - BAM! BAM! BAM! DANCE DANCE DANCE! BAM!

Yeah, I can't do this. My ipod sits on its speakers and is on constant shuffle. If I got the data out of itunes, it wouldn't reflect my taste, it would reflect my ipod's taste, and we just don't always agree. My ipod is possessed by the spirit of a cranky teenage girl from the 80s who is really, really, really into the Ramones and Mary Prankster. She also likes Nanci Griffith a lot, which is kind of surprising and lately she's been fixating on Neko Case. I was driven finally to take Mary Prankster totally off my ipod and I swear she's been sulking ever since, skipping in the middle of songs and flipping suddenly from one song to the next. Next time I want an unpossessed ipod.

You need to offer your ipod a cig and talk about why, like parents totally suck and stuff.
