It's encouraging to encounter symbols of resistance. But one of your brothers or sisters in the struggle has the job of correcting the customers' misshelving - and you're needlessly making their job more difficult.

There will be blood. Sacrifices must be made. History must be righted.

Yeah, I'm kind of with Joe Beese on this. I'm no fan of the Bush presidency, but what purpose will this serve other than to harass store clerks?

I'd do this if I could find a bookstore.

I spent many years working in bookstores, and I endorse this project.

Bookstore employees are poorly paid and usually have no benefits, though they're well-read and often smart. I have a feeling they would not oppose this (and would probably be happy to help out in many cases).

(Worked in bookstores in college; brother worked in the industry for 10 years).

It wouldn't really make your job more difficult, since it's already part of the work routine to "read shelves" and move mishelved books anyway. People misshelve books all the time, so this wouldn't really be an unusual or new occurence. Besides, more work = more job security! Nothing to sneeze at in this economy. Christmas is coming!

I will be doing this for sure, but treating the store clerks extra nicely.

I enjoyed turning all the Going Rogue editions I saw upside down, too.

But I still don't understand the point. What is accomplished by calling Bush a criminal? Other than "neener neener neener"?
posted by JanetLand 05 November | 18:38
Because he started a war based on lies and promulgated a policy that resulted in the torture and murder of innocents and thus he should be charged and brought to trial as a war criminal. And that since that will never ever happen because the highest court in the land is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Global Capital, Inc, the best we can do is go "neener neener neener" and live with the mess he made while making tiny little gestures that indicate our displeasure.
