What's the best blogging site these days? [More:]
When I used to blog, I used blogspot, which was fine, but didn't have image hosting.

Now I want to start a very simple blog that is just photos, links, and very short text. I also want to be able to draft a bunch of posts and have them post on various dates in the future - but maybe they all do that now? Should I use tumblr? Something else?
I like Wordpress as blogging software and they have a hosting service as well: http://wordpress.com/.

There was recently a very similar question on MeFi.

I won't repeat all that I said there, but I recommend Tumblr, which I use myself for the very same thing as you're wanting to do.

Wordpress is great, and I'd choose it for a more substantial site, but for one that is just photos, links and short text I much prefer Tumblr.

If you don't like Tumblr for some reason, Posterous is supposed to be somewhat similar.

I'm surprised at the love for WP for what you're describing. What you mentioned (photos, links, and very short text) is exactly what Tumblr is for. It does a great job. Simple and a ton of templates.

If you end up loving WP, which I agree with philipy, is better for long entries, great. But if you're not completely happy try Tumblr. It's pretty awesome.

(it's also easier to get read on tumblr than wp, if that's important to you.)

So, after checking out this and the askme thread, I looked at tumblr, and maybe I'm missing a template that i would have liked, but I just don't like how tumblr blogs look aesthetically I guess! Philipy, your design is one of the most straightforward, clean looking ones I've seen, but a lot of the others just didn't work for me. So anyway I went with WP. It was way easier to set up than the last time I tried to start one years ago (I'm pretty sure the complexity of WP at that time is why I went with blogger). So far it seems fine for my needs. Maybe it's got more features or whatnot than I need it to, but I don't seem to need to use the complex features that don't interest me. So, we'll see! Thanks everybody for helping me figure this out.

I think the difference in ease of installation you may be thinking of is wp the self-hosted version vs wordpress.com
