Moo is offering 50 free cards, and I'm unable to decide between several different designs (with the pigeon slightly having the edge). But I'd appreciate your input, on both the picture and what to put on the card. These aren't intended for business, but just my contact details. I was going to put just my first name, surname, a yahoo email address and my mobile phone number. Is this enough to (a) not appear to be coy but (b) preserve my privacy?
Depending on who exactly you plan to give it to, I might leave off the phone number. For some reason the phone information seems of higher need for protection for me.
As to the designs, I like the bottom three best. I'd lean towards the starry tree as the one I'd pick.
Wow, that pigeon really IS nice. (and now I can add that to the list of "Sentences I Never Thought I'd Say")
I see what Stew is saying, but...if I was going to go to the trouble of making personal cards to hand out, I can't see leaving off my phone number, you know?
I like the pigeon, but I'm not clear on where the text is going to go and I'm afraid it will fight with the design, which is so very centered. So I think the last one would work the best as a card. Also it's very sophisticated and elegant and these things are good. I would also put the phone number on there because, honestly, if you're handing out cards what is the point of having to then be all, hang on while I look for a pen and give you my number?
My Moo cards which are a weird sort of mix of personal & business - as in I have a personality but I do not really have a business, yet, somebody might see my card and call me to do any of the various things I list as being able to do - have my neighborhood, West Asheville, listed instead of my exact address as well as my email & phone number.
I like either the first or the pigeon. I can't see you not having an animal on your card, so my final vote is pigeon.
I give people my email address and tell them they can find me on Facebook. Once they're added as a contact, they can see my cell number (unless I've added them to my limited list). Maybe you could do the same and then you can decide individually who gets your phone number and who doesn't. Or if you're not concerned who gets it, just put it on there.
Where did the free 50 offer come from? An email newsletter or something? It's probably a good idea for me to get some, since I've just been using my work cards and that's probably not a good idea.
The text goes on the reverse. I wouldn't want anyone to find me on Facebook - I'm paranoid about privacy on FB. The 50 free offer is on popbitch. Damn, I just saw that they come with a popbitch watermark, so I'm having second thoughts.
Ah, I can get them with just the Moo watermark, which is way better. As they're free (except for £3 postage) I'll give it a go.
So, I'm going to choose the pigeon, and on the back it'll be first name + surname, yahoo address and cellphone. I hardly ever use my phone, it's rarely switched on and frequently runs down so I don't think it'd be a problem. I think I'll also put my US cellphone on it too.
OK, it's done, but I had to go through IE as Firefox didn't work for some reason. I ordered the 7 pack and on the reverse of the card put the pigeon picture with the text alongside.
I love pigeons. I saw the most beautiful pink pigeon yesterday. I love the iridescence of the plumage around their necks and on their throats. If I was reincarnated as a bird, it'd be a pigeon. Like me, they have short legs, a big butt and they can't sing. But in the right light, like a pigeon, I will shine.
I really like some of those variants. Myself I'd go for #1 and #3; trees trees trees.
That pigeon is doing some strange things, though. There's trees in your pigeon in a tree. Some of the other pigeons seem to be emitting the night sky or spraying the world with snowflakes.
I don't generally like pigeons - most of the ones I see in Chicago look like they have bird flu or something. But, every once and a while I'll see one that really is beautiful. This year I've seen more white and brown pigeons than in years past. They're my favorite pigeon. Don't tell the BF I have a favorite pigeon, ok.
After I posted my earlier comment about the pigeons looking like they have bird flu, I went outside for a break. Upon seeing a pigeon, I immediately felt guilty about insulting them. I retract my earlier pigeons-are-gross statement. All birds deserve love.
