Haunted cabinet door.
So last night I noticed there was a scary face in the wood grain of the cabinet door. I was talking to my girlfriend, standing by the sink, about some crap or other. I turned to the cabinet to trace a graph with my finger, and just stopped in mid-sentence.[More:]

When she asked me what it was, I asked her if she could also see the demon face in the cabinet, and she said yes in a pissed-off way because how did we never see this before and how were we ever going to NOT see it again. We'd walk by the kitchen and look up and there it would be looking back at us.

(It could also be that I've been reading too many SCP entries recently.)

Anyway, easily solved, and I'm sure the evil face can't work its evil from where it's now crammed under a bench. Though I do feel like I'm at the beginning of a Stephen King short story.
Sorry, I don't know how to do moar inside, it seems. Hope?

Famous last words.

I think more like a Shirley Jackson story. A bit of pareidolia like that shows up in a pattern on some wall-covering a ways into "The Haunting". If you start hearing thumping noises...well, time to sell the house!

What about the weeping wizard face on the next cabinet door?

It's OK - it looks good. Open cabinetry is a great quick fix - all the rage on the design-on-a-budget home shows!

I actually would like shelves more than cabinets, above the counter at least. That it leaves no place for hell-monsters to manifest—that's gravy.

As to demon faces in woodgrain, I have no advice except possibly to take a sharpie and draw it all in properly so that it can get really terrifying. As far as open shelves in kitchens are concerned, though, I have them and they drive me crazy because everything is always coated in kind of greasy dust. Kitchen dust. Nasty horrible oily dust. Never again open shelves, say I. Glass doors. Or cabinets with demons on them, either/or.

The car I bought last year has a slight haunted effect. There is something about the shape of the plastic mounting piece that the rear view mirror is attached to that suggests the shape of a human head, and so when I glance at the rear view mirror I see that plastic mounting piece above it, sort of out of the corner of my eye, and I get the distinct impression that someone is sitting in the back seat of my car, watching me. It still makes me jump, even after a year. I may have to put something over it to change the shape enough so that doesn't happen anymore. Weird, huh?

Thank you SO MUCH for linking the SCP Foundation. I've been trying to remember that site and get back there for ages, and never could quite find it.

Also, yes, that is odd, but a terrific picture!

Such a cool photo.

There's a huge vagina in the wood grain of the door of the lunch room where I used to work. I so wanted to point it out to my coworkers but everyone there thought I was weird already, so I didn't.

There's also an incredibly cute octopus in the linoleum floor in the women's bathroom there. Again, I decided not to share my discovery with others.

The octopus looks like this but cuter.

Did yours have a squiggly cowlick shaped like a question mark? No other hair, just the squiggle.
