Oh, how I love Destinos...[More:]

...the cheesy soap opera for learning Spanish. I've been using some of the great suggestions I got in this thread for quickly building my Spanish skills, but I've got to say the most fun part of practicing is watching Destinos, and the adventures of the plucky investigator Raquel Rodriguez as she searches for the missing son of Don Fernando Castillo. Complete with excellent 80s fashion (think shoulder pads and polyester), the series is surprisingly compelling. Here's the wikipedia entry.
Ha! This looks great. My partner has just started studying Spanish- I'll have to show him this.

The French counterpart is French In Action.

BP, there is a fair amount of somewhat boring repetition, but it does help reinforce concepts, and it seems to improve after the first 10 episodes or so. JL, I gather the French one has a more loyal following?

Heh. Three years of HS Spanish and two semesters at University, yeah, I've spent mucho tiempo mirando Destinos. I'm actually kind of pissed now that I never got to the resolution, if there is one.
