America Is a Joke: the worst of times for politics and media has been the best of times for The Daily Show’s host—and unfortunately things are getting even funnier.
Fantastic article. Thanks. My husband and I are still hooked on Stewart, though I feel less of a compulsive daily need for him than I did when Bush was in office.
Thanks for posting this - bears out a lot of my own feelings about mainstream media lacking any moral center or sense of outrage at the cynical manipulation of the daily news cycle. I just wish that Stewart was available to a wider audience. The only reason that unpersons like "Pastor" Jones or the AntiPoet get coverage is mainstream media's voracious appetite for more fluff to fill the void ...
Instapaper'd this and read it on my Kindle at work today. Great article. Made me miss the Daily Show so much.
You know, Miko, I know where you're coming from, but it's still there, corporate overlords and all. As much as I'd love to have a system like the BBC (PBS, as good as it is, is no where close to the BBC), this is what we have to work with.
Thanks to the Daily Show, my SO now understands what I'm on about when I fume about the latest stupidity coming out of the US Right that I've read on the net.
