My thoughts are with the residents of San Bruno tonight. Or they would be, but I really don't want to think about a neighborhood destroyed by explosions that may be PG&E's fault, since I live in one of the residences closest to their Diablo Canyon Nuke Plant, y'know?

I heard the early reports on the radio news while I was out in the car a few hours ago. What a terrible nightmarish thing to happen.

Oh God, how awful for those poor people. And their pets too. This picture almost made me cry, the rescued dog looks scared and very relieved at the same time.

This was the first thing I heard on the radio when I woke up this morning. Now I'm seeing the video on CNN and it's just horrific.

It just goes to show that we have more to fear from our own crumbling infrastructure than we do from terrorists and other assorted bogeymen.

Are they sure this was "crumbling infrastructure"? This seems a bit soon to make that conclusion.

It was a pipeline that exploded. I'm just guessing that adequate maintenance and/or monitoring could have prevented it.
