Peter Madsen from Denmark built a submarine. Peter and some other engineers plan to use it to launch a rocket into space. Their thread at Something Awful. via oneswellfoop.

Let's make one thing clear; I have nothing to do with this rocket or this submarine, or Something Awful, usually. I was made aware of it through my network of batshit insane people I follow at Twitter and posted it at Monkeyfilter (I wasn't sure it was 100% for real so I didn't post it here). I am still most awed about the rocket, which should be capable of carrying one crazy person into space and back, and which will get its first unmanned test flight Tuesday according to this.

*blushes* Tried to get clever. I wasn't. The layout of the rocket (windowed nose cone) reminded me of the depiction of a nifty fictional rocket on the cover of that book. It got brought to life. Pretty neat.
