29 August 2010

Weekend 3-point update [More:]
1. I had a visit from Specklet and TheDonF for a couple of days. We went to Cambridge on Friday and we had the legendary Pizza Night. We had a lovely, lovely time.

2. A neighbour came over yesterday, sneezing her stupid head off. This morning I woke up with razor blade throat and painful sinuses. I've been dosing myself up with Vitamin C and zinc and getting plenty of rest.

3. Bailey is feeling poorly. She's thrown up a few times, and has retched a few more but without bringing anything up. I've tried to give her hairball medicine, but she won't take it.

3a. Holiday weekend, so I have tomorrow to get over this lousy cold.
1. Spent most of the weekend (36ish hours) in Philly for a baby shower/birthday/anniversary/housewarming party for my brother and sister-in-law, which was awesome.

2. Flew back late last night so I could be home for the first day of Sunday School today. I'm teaching two sessions instead of one, but it went well.

3. Ok, so the only DS games I like are Harvest Moon games and Animal Crossing, so I was SO EXCITED to come home to a new HM game--but they've gotten rid of stylus control and you can only use the buttons (even though the manual claims it's all able to be controlled by the stylus). I find this very annoying. And yes, I know it's dumb!

1. At Mariners game with my hubby. Ruined my breath with delicious garlic fries.

2. Our Aussie got a long deep scratch on his side, no idea how. Gave it a little sponge bath treatment and he now seems to be healing well.

3. Made some great mango frozen yogurt yesterday. Ripe fresh mangoes make a tremendous ingredient.

1. Daughter down. . .fun weekend. Buffython last night.

2. Since all 3 of us have bdays within a span of 13 days, we are having the party tonight. . .getting ready for it.

3. I would love to go to an M's game. . .never been to the Safe.

1. Went to the annual church carnival in my hometown last night with some good friends I've known since grade school.

2. Took a yoga class today in my backyard with my neighbors taught by a woman who is training to be an instructor.

3. Got a lot of work and errands done this weekend.

All in all, a good couple of days. Life would be perfect if I could eat some ice cream guilt-free, but that won't happen.

1. Tough boot camp session Saturday morning, due to some fool commenting that last week's session seemed a little easy (not me - I've learned that lesson before)
2. Ran the 10k at the Bridge to Brisbane Sunday in a PB of 52:49
3. Had to leave home at 4:00 am to do #2, so the combination of that, #1 and #2 has me somewhat unenthusiastic on this Monday morning.

1. I have lots of things to do that I can't seem to ever clear off my desk and it is driving me batty.

2. Had srs bzns chats with mom and pops today (separately) about my life and financial problems. Hopefully things will be better in the future, but I should know better than to hope by now.

3. One class has opened on Bb and I need to put down all the deadlines and get that all prepped. Things to do things to do things to do...

1. Feeling pretty crappy, getting over a cold that ninety degree weather doesn't really help with. Napped for four hours this afternoon.

2. Had to work from home a lot this weekend, big release coming up next month.

3. Got a note from Lionsgate Studios about them filming on my street this week, maybe my house will be in a movie.

1. Went to a wedding reception last night for two old friends. I had a great time, but drank too many gin & tonics.

2. Today is my birthday so the BF and I went to the White Sox game. They lost, but we sat by the bullpen and Bobby Jenks waved to our section. And we saw Hawk Harrelson leaving the park after the game.

3. We went to the produce market on the way home and the BF bought me a venus flytrap! It needs a name though.

1. Saw 5 Fringe shows. Good times!
2. Went to Trader Joe's today and got lots of fun treats today. Not in the mood to make any of them right now, though, because I've eaten half a bag of Skittles and I don't want any more dishes to stack up.
3. Now sitting home feeling sorry for myself and watching the Emmys! Woo woo!

1. I got to hang out with two new kindergarten attendees this weekend, at different times. Interestingly, both mentioned the opening day fire drill. Of all things, that made the biggest impression.

2. We rearranged furniture this weekend, which only made it clear that we need new furniture.

3. Lazy Sunday spent cooking and watching football.

1. Downloaded demo of Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days on Friday. It LOOKS awesome, but I have yet to make it out of the very first gun battle alive. On "Easy." Clearly all these years of playing The Sims, Tropico, and Rollercoaster Tycoon have dulled my reflexes. (I was a FPS fiend back in the Doom/ Doom II/Duke Nukem days.)

2. Partner and I are both off work this week- we're too broke to go anywhere, so we're hoping to do projects around the house all week. That's still in the "planning stages and optimistic talk" phase for now.

3. We've had the windows open all weekend and it is so awesome. I don't want summer to end, but I do love fall, and this in-between moment is always beautiful.

the BF bought me a venus flytrap! It needs a name though.

It HAS to be named Audrey, doesn't it?

1. Worked yesterday (I always work Saturdays - I own a retail shop)
2. Rode my motorcycle about 150 miles this morning, half twisty pavement and half dirt
3. Swam in the lake this afternoon with my husband and dog
3a. Brought in the laundry a few minutes ago, disturbed a bat that had roosted on my clothesline and showed its displeasure by flying full-speed into my forehead :-0

1. Started my diet today. The less said about that, the better, but I do have the urge to eat an entire bag of gummy bears. And bacon.

2. Rode 10 miles; had planned to ride 20+ but had a headache that wouldn't give in to the endorphins.
2a. Also, had taken my camera but somehow joggled the autofocus toggle off and thought the thing was on the fritz, which is the other half of what led me to bail halfway thru my ride in consternation and panic.

3. Headed to bed in the next 20 minutes or so. Have another week of 0200 alarms and 0330 work. Which, yeah.

1. Friday - worked and went to my sister's for dinner and games.
2. Saturday - opening day for my kids' baseball. I was at the fields most of the day. Saturday night I did a whole lot of nothing.
3. Today - went to Walmart, cleaned and cooked, walked/jogged 3 plus miles.

OMG. I'll stop griping about my usual 0500 alarm right about now.

1) We're moving tomorrow from Chicago to Cleveland. There's a program at the Cleveland Clinic that I think will help my son with his neurological difficulties so we're relocating. I have to do this for him. I have to give him this chance.

2) It's hard to say goodbye to my friends.

3) I hope my kid is going to be OK.

Kangaroo, good luck and as a former Clevelander I can say that it's a great town.

@Boring -my normal alarm is also 5, but we rotate two weeks of earlies every six weeks or so. It's as fun as it sounds. On the up side, I'm home by lunch.

Yeah, I don't mind my 7-to-3 sked because while I hate the early mornings, I love leaving work at 3 most days. And when I work late, it's till 5 or 6 PM.

1) Spent Sunday wandering around Rookwood Necropolis with my camera. Lots of lovely mausoleums, including a few ruined and open ones. (Some of the pix are up on Metachat Eye if anyone's curious...)

2) Cooked awesome Chicken Biryani, naan bread and a vat of green lentil dahl. Think I'm getting the hang of Indian food.

3) Cold pizza for breakfast and spent the day zoning out and listening to music.

1. Body woke me up at 6:30 on Saturday, as it always does, so I went up to Morioka to pick up my 120 film I shot the week before. I had mixed results.

1a. The normal 120 400 ISO looks great.

1b. The 8-year expired film had the B switch on the whole time, and all the pictures came out shaky. Coolness of 8-year expired film: Inconclusive.

2. I faxed in my move request to the company. The boy and I should be moved in together again by the end of September.

3. Discovered Green Day has a musical. I'm conflicted.

1) The moderate depression I've been dealing with decided to get my attention by making me cry uncontrollably every day.
2) Of course there's also the attending cluster symptoms, which are less acute but just as problematic. Work is suffering.
3) Left a slightly hysterical message for my doctor this a.m. I already had an appointment for the 10th, but I can't wait for that.

(((Kangaroo))) Cleveland is a good place. I wish you luck.

(((Stewriffic))) -- waiting for meds and therapy and brain to realign with each other is such a sucky time, but I'm glad you're on top of it instead of huddling in a corner hoping it'll pass.
