Neat. I'm not sure that I could do the living out of a backpack thing but it sounds like he had a great time. I've been dying to go abroad for years but I've never had the free time and money at the same time.

I think everyone should have a passport, even if they don't plan on immediately traveling outside the country. That way, not having a passport can't be an excuse - if an opportunity arises you can just pick up and go.

I have a passport, but I don't travel out of the country as much as I would like because it is expensive as all get out. We looked into getting out of the continental US for our honeymoon but, nope, just couldn't swing the airfare.

Thanks for posting this. It's a good reminder that I need to make traveling a priority. What that really means is I need to make budgeting for international travel a priority! I'm broke and that can be hard!
