Browser wars: Chrome is clearly loading a page I want, but then it immediately diverts to myspace. Anybody know what's up with that?
It could be a virus.

Oh, you wanted more information than that? Sorry.

(I had a virus once that kept diverting to some advertising site...a total pain, had to go into the registry and get rid of all sorts of crap.)

I just installed Chrome yesterday after I finally gave up on Firefox, so I do not yet know its ins and outs.

Malware is my first guess. I'd rule that out first.

Can you try to load the page in another browser to see what it does there?

You're experiencing an unwanted redirect. This may be caused by malware or a corrupted browser profile. Instructions here may help:

First, check and see if this problem is restricted to Chrome.

If not: What router do you have. Is it a Linksys? Go here: http://www.brownbatterystudios.com/sixthings/2009/11/18/who-the-hell-is-samuel-garcia-the-facebook-redirect-problem/#comment-33022

If it's Chrome only: scroll down to Blair's answer and create a new profile using the linked instructions. Also flush your DNS settings. http://www.tech-faq.com/how-to-flush-dns.html

Good luck!

That usually works.
