Five Geek Social Fallacies [More:]Via this comment. "trolls who smell of cheese", lol.
Somewhat snarky in its presentation, but there are some important nuggets of emotional intelligence in there.

I know people who, due to item #5 on that list, can never leave the house without a pack of 5-10 friends going along with them. Like, literally not even to Waffle House on a hungover Sunday morning to get some eggs and coffee. If one goes, the whole crowd has to go, after an hour of texting/calling each other and then taking-over three booths when they get there.

As much as I like some of these people, I never really hang out with them because of this.

I've actually not had any friends who exhibited any of these. If anything, some of my friends would have done better to adopt a few of these behaviors. I guess this confirms my suspicion that I'm probably not a geek.

I sometimes suffer under fallacy #1. I'm getting better, though.

I've done all of these but meh... I'm more on to hipster social fallacies now. I'd link you, but eh. If you needed to know about them, you'd know already.

admittedly having only skimmed the thing, it seems to me that most of these fallacies are hardly peculiar to geeks.

But I knew about them first!

Psh... I knew the guy who invented knowing about things first, before anyone else had heard of him.

(Also, this thought just popped into my head after reading a totally different article: Extroverts are ruining the internet! There, I said it. Bring back anti-social media!)

Did anyone notice that all of these geeky fallacies are essentially one: that it isn't OK to ever exclude anyone?

I don't know who is bugging the author, but I'd suggest going ahead and cutting that person loose.

You know, Eideteker, I think you're on to something there. Extroverts are ruining the internet, for introverts. For them, it's all peaches and cream, right?

I love that two of the ads in the sidebar are "Why can't I find a date?" and "Pentecostal singles!"

Bah.

This came around back in the day and my reaction hasn't changed.

Facebook is really build around #4. All your friends will be friends of each other.

Sometimes when I'll get comments on a single Facebook post from my old boss, my ex-girlfriend, someone from church, my wife's aunt and someone I knew in elementary school, I'll think "this is really weird and kinda awkward".
