Okay, strange now: I have heard "True Blue" seven different times today. From radios, from stores, randomly appearing on a TV in the waiting room showing VH1 Classic....[More:]

My running theories are

1) Some otherworldly being is trying to get in touch with me via Madonna.

2) I'm stuck in a time loop and I need to somehow use the song as a clue to the right course of action to prevent the loop

3) I am dreaming.

4) The reality simulation is breaking down

5) We've reached the point where this song is how hip, for some reason.
It's Madonna's birthday.

Earlier this afternoon I was in Office Max when the store PA played "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga and I thought how she's Madonna now.

I hadn't heard that song in YEARS before your post. I'd heard other songs from that album (since I own other songs from that album) but not that song. Weird.

Haven't heard the song in years even though the mrs. is a huge Madonna fanatic. She's been listening to a lot of Lada Gaga too lately and thinks that she's the new Madonna.

I'm not really a fan of either but music is one of the few things that we don't agree on

lady Gaga is the new Madonna in style, I'm sure she'll turn out to be a craptastic actress and always reinventing her persona and look for the next 25 years, so yeah new Madonna there. And an entertaining one at that. Musicwise, they're about a million miles apart though... aren't they?

Just as I typed that sleepycat almost rolled off my lap again, I caught in in the nick of time He turns into a fur-puddle.

Lady GaGa is Officially Madonna Now
Here’s Lady GaGa performing on Today this morning and the only possible way she could look more like Madonna in the top pic is if scarab beetles flew out of her mouth and started abducting small black children. No, really, I literally thought it was 1985 for a second and Sean Penn was about to punch somebody in the mouth, that’s how close she nailed it.

Here's a thing I've always been curious about.. Why do Italian-Americans like Madonna & Lady Gaga for example, make songs with french or spanish lyrics when they could be singing Ti amo. Voglio vederti stasera. Cara mia, ti voglio bene
I mean, that's hella sexay, c'mon.

How so? They sound a lot alike to me but again it's not really my genre so I probably miss the distinctions.

re italian: possibly because they're going for an exotic language and to them Italian is not exotic.

As an 80s child, I have to agree. Because Madonna has done some good songs in her long long career, but three years into her career Lady Gaga has already done several awesome songs.

Madonna - dancer with savvy and hella balls

Gaga - musician and singer with same

I think Gaga is more talented, but at the same time, we wouldn't be ready for Gaga without Madonna. So good on them both.

Even though some Americans feel a lot of identity because they're Italian-American, it's not the kind of thing where they'd be only seeking Italian music to perform. They want to be American pop stars, and they grew up on American pop music, and they're influenced by American pop-culture ideas in which French is sophisticated and sexy, Spanish is hot and tropical and sexy, and Italian is what your grandparents spoke while you sat around bored at family events like weddings and confirmations while they complained about their health and drank really grapey cheap red wine.

Also there is the If You Sing In Italian You Are Now Connie Francis thing.

Miko - hahaha, best explanation yet. I get it now. Shame though, cuz Italian is sexaaay

I am so glad I am not the only person with this opinion. I am probably a blasphemer, but I'm not a big fan of Madonna's music. Love the GaGa though. LOVE. HER.

(Definitely appreciate Madonna for her place in pop culture, but the lady has no place on my iPod is what I'm saying.)

I had a long nightmare in which I had to create a musical about Little Red Riding hood while the show was going on.

I hate my head.
