Crosspost from MeTa: Today at work my friend Trevor told me that on Sunday (my day off) afternoon, a man and a woman came up to him and asked for 'jonmc.' He said they had 'European accents.' He told them I was out and to come back. They haven't. Which one of you people is it? Fess up. (terrapin told me to do this)

I've been greeted by username. I post on some bike forums and have posted pictures (both me and my bikes). There's been times I'm just riding around and someone I don't know will yell out, "Doohickie!"

Not mefites, but I was approached at a creeme (ice cream) stand in Vermont by a man with a thick Alabama accent who asked me and turtlegirl if we were "Rick and Sarah" and it ended up he and his family had been watching our webcam for years. They ended up moving to our town permanently a few years later. They once even stopped by unannounced and called friends in Alabama to let them know they were on our webcam and to look :)
