Anyone up for a little MP3 Shuffle-a-gogo? [More:] MP3 player on shuffle, first 10 songs, no cheating. Here's what I got:

1. DUSTY SPRINGFIELD - I Only Want to Be With You (At Her Very Best)

2. TED LEO & the PHARMACISTS - One Polaroid a Day (the Brutalist Bricks 2010) From one of my favortie albums of 2010.

3. DIANA ROSS & the SUPREMES - No Matter What Sign You Are (Let the Sunshine In (1969)

4. the MONKEES - I Love You Better (Changes 1970)

5. the SHADOWS - the Breeze and I (the Shadows in the 60's) Damn I love surfy guitar instrumentals.

6. BERT JANSCH - Oh My Babe (It Don't Bother Me 1965) I just discovered this Scottish folkie last year and have picking up his albums chronologically and am really digging everything.

7. the WHITE ANIMALS - Such a Long Time (Lost Weekend 1982) Underrated power pop band from Nashville.

8. SUGARPLASTIC - Polly Brown (Bang. The Earth Is Round 1996) For a while Sugarplastic filled the XTC void with their quirky pop that owes more than an obvious debt to Andy Partidge.

9. the WHO - Substitute (A Quick One 1966) This was never really on a proper album, but this version comes as a mono bonus cut on the A Quick One deluxe package.

10. TOM VERLAINE - Fragile (Dreamtime 1981)

I know we just did one of these last week, but for me, there's never too much shuffle. Plus I'm looking for another distraction before I dig into a busy work day. So, what did you get on your shuffle?
1. DUSTY SPRINGFIELD - I Only Want to Be With You (At Her Very Best)

Word.

Can't do a shuffle right this moment, but I'll be back for sure.

I remember buying that 2 CD Dusty collection thinking that 2 discs might be a bit much since I already owned Memphis - but damn was I wrong. 2 discs isn't enough. That comp is loaded to the gills with great songs.

1. The Clean--Do your thing

2. Pat Benatar--Love is a Battlefield (I secretly love those 80s comps called things like "Awesome 80s" and "Rock Dreams" plus this song rocks.)

3. Mates of State--A control group

4. The Bicycles--Thanks for calling

5. Teenage Fanclub and Jad Fair--Near to You (I love Teenage Fanclub so much, this reminds me to listen to their newest album like a thousand more times in a row)

6. Gorky's Zygotic Mynci--Let those blue skies (such a pretty song)

7. Palomar--Honestly

8. Tracy Thorn--Long White Dress

9. the Bird and the Bee--Private Eyes (from their album of Hall and Oates covers, which is just so fun)

10. Dean and Britta--Teenage Lightning and lonely highways (Sonic Boom remix)--from their new album, the Andy Warhol silent films soundtrack. The songs don't work as well without the video but this one is pretty good.)

Arcade Fire - Deep Blue - Just got the new album, haven't really listened to it much yet.

The Black Keys - The Desperate Man - I'm pretty addicted to these guys.
Jay Farrar - Different Eyes
Neko Case - Don't Forget Me
She & Him - Don't Look Back - Thought that this was a vanity project at first but there's some great songs here

Oh shnap, I've been rocking the 'shuf' lately too! It's only what I have on my laptop HD, not my whole collection:

1. C-Bo - Stackin' Gs chopped and screwed version from Hurricane Duck Bootleg mixtape by DJ Screw.

2. Flying Lotus - MmmmHmmm (feat. Thundercat) I just got this album and I'm not really feeling it. It's like it's too dense or something.

3. Waajeed - Tetris (instrumental) from Blu Jemz Presents: Beat Machine. This track reminds me of when I saw the anti-pop consortium live and how great they were, even though they didn't have a working mic.

4. OnDubGround - B & H from the Octopus 3 compilation from the Fresh Poulp netlabel. This isn't a particularly strong track - yes, I listen to generic indie dubstep

5. Machinae Supremacy - Little Green Men from the unbelievably awesome Jets 'n' Guns OST. Metal band meets chiptune band, they shoot down a huge armored fortress together.

6. Hellfish And Producer - A Journey Of Force (Bastard Mix) from Bastard Sonz Of Rave.

7. John Zorn - Beyond the Infinite from The Goddess (Music For The Ancient Of Days). I don't know about this album but this is a strong piece, only, no dynamics. Maybe that's what's been bugging me about Zorn's most recent stuff.

8. Dizzee Rascal - Wanna Be (Ft. Lily Allen) from Maths and English.

9. kontest - Under Pressure from somewhere on the internet. This is some random bedroom-producer jungle I got from a French mp3.com-type website. It is a mystery.

10. Matmos - Messages from the Unseen World from For Alan Turing EP. The universe is the interior of a light cone of creation.

1. Robyn Hitchcock "Trams of Old London" from my favorite Hitchcock album, I Often Dream of Trains

2. David Byrne & Brian Eno "Strange Overtones" I like this song a lot, but my partner is absolutely crazy about it.

3. Hidden Cameras, "Boys of Melody" The first song I ever heard from these guys, and I found it via MetaChat! Now I have just about all of their stuff.

4. Modest Mouse, "Fly Trapped In A Jar"

5. OK Go, "It's A Disaster"

6. Big Star, "She's a Mover"

7. Belle & Sebastian, "Act of the Apostle"

8. Magnetic Fields, "The Night You Can't Remember" One of their many gender-benders, where he sings in first-person about a female character.

9. Blue Oyster Cult, "Cagey Cretins" I always listen to a lot of BOC in the summertime.

10. Add N to (X), "Grey Body, Green Gun"

youngergirl44, that was the only thing on my mandatory In-Laws Holiday gift list I didn't receive. I just know it is languishing in that house somewhere, and it makes me sad. It is quite awesome.

2. Velvet Underground - New Age (Full Length Version)

Alan Watts lectures can be fun when they come up in shuffle between rock songs, or calming when stuck in traffic. Makes you think of the bigger picture, yknow? Surprisingly I don't have that much Animal Collective or Velvet Underground on my iPod, compared to the other artists of whom I have many albums unrepresented here.
