Dog credited with saving owner's life by eating his big toe.
Bah, the owner wanted to put his dog down until he was talked out of it. How ungrateful, doesn't he have any appreciation for how awful gangrenous toes taste?

Holy Gahd. That guy's quite a catch, huh?

Seriously. The dog is way too good for him.

That man is a moron.

I dunno. I had undiagnosed diabetes and ended up in the ER. I'm still not in good control and I know I have nerve damage in the feet (but my gums and eyes have both gotten healthier since I lost weight). It's kind of crazy, but it was a good thing in the end for him.

He also wanted the hospital to give him any spare bit of toe to feed to the dog.

Well, if this leads to him getting sober, it might be a blessing in disguise.

I'm 99% sure that line was intended as a joke, Senyar. At least, I sure hope so 'cause it made me literally lol. But I spend a lot of time working at an animal clinic and there's a certain brand of gallows humor intrinsic in that line of work, so my radar may be a little skewed.

What an idiot.
An open wound on his toe for several months?
His wife (A REGISTERED NURSE!) finally spotting it several weeks ago & "looked as though she'd seen a ghost," he said. "We've got to go to the hospital," he remembers her insisting."
GAH
It boggles my mind that you can have a piece of your own body rotting off and still not to go to the doctor, and that his wife didn't put her foot down and get him to a doctor once she was aware of the open wound.
Was he fearful of the crazy cost of US health care or was he just trying to avoid the inevitable diagnosis?
The real tragedy here is that Linda Floyd's dog was put down.

Both very charitable; reading between the lines, I'd wager that it's neither; he's just an active, advanced alcoholic.

If he's smart he'll move to hard liquor, fewer carbs.

What?

Note: I'm diabetic and have alcoholism in my family. Please don't kill me.
