80s Earworm of the Morning: Sheena Easton's "Strut". I used to dance around to this when I was about eight. It definitely falls into the "I really had no idea what the lyrics meant at that time, did I?" category, along with pretty much anything by Madonna.
Not only did I not understand most lyrics when I was a kid, but I went around acively misinforming friends about their meanings. I remember when my best friend asked me what a virgin was after we watched the Like a Virgin video, and I told her it was someone who has sex all the time.

I'd dance around at this at a similar age: Hot Chocolate - Everyone's a winner.

My eight-year-old jam was Linda Ronstadt's Heatwave. And my earworm this morning is The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger, since I sang it at karaoke last night.

I was much older than 8 when "Strut" came out, but it was a song I loved quite a bit. At the time I was very indie rock, but that was one if the few dance pop songs that stood up to repeated plays.

Although my Sheena Easton crush started four year earlier, which seems so quaint through 2010 eyes.

Slack-a-gogo, I knew that song, but I had no idea it was Sheena Easton. And that video is adorable.

I had a similar experience with Ringo Starr's "No No Song."

Mondegreen moment for this one: Back then I thought "All takin' and no givin" was "I'll take your number given."

Sheena had lots of earworms. Underrated, she was.

I had a tape of me singing "I'm So Excited" by the Pointer Sisters at the age of four. Never thought about what, exactly, they were *SO* excited about.

Jon - my older brothers used to laugh their asses every time I would walk around the house singing that song as an eight year old with no clue what it was about. One of my other favorite songs to sing from that age happened to be about beer.

Is this something I'd have to have sugar walls to understand?

If you've ever seen sugar in its natural state, ungranulated, the image of sugar walls doesn't sound very inviting.

When I was 5 I would all the time a song that was on the radio. Its title was 'Angeline, de blonde sex machine'. I had no idea what it was about but had a lot fun singing it.
