30 July 2010

During which I witness the differences between the sexes, firsthand. Men love gadgets. Yes, they do.[More:]So I inform the engineer next to me that I'm buying a new home computer. The news spreads like wildfire; within minutes all 6 engineers are breaking into individual discussion groups, discussing the pros and cons of my chosen model, emailing me and each other to ask about the specs, congratulating me on the choice (I just asked a male IT friend to put something together for me), giving me questions for said IT friend and discussing the answers. Now their eyes light up when I pass them in the hall; I think I made their day. I love them so much.

(This is NOT meant to be a grar discussion on "all men do this, all women do that"! It was just meant to be a cute story! That is all!)
I just witnessed the difference between the sexes firsthand, too! My son pops a treat into the toaster oven. He then proceeds to offer bites to both my husband and myself when it was warm. I carefully take my piece and blow on it to cool it off. Both husband and son immediately bite into theirs, and both exclaim in unison, "Hot! Oooooh! Hot!". Dumbasses. My mother-in-law and I marvel that the men in our family never seem to learn, and will blister their tongues on a regular basis. The women in our family, however, carefully cool their food to a reasonable temperature before attempting consumption. I can therefore safely conclude that all men everywhere who have ever lived on this planet or any other do not know how to eat :)

What kind of computer are you getting? The man inside me (figuratively speaking, I'm alone at the moment) must know.

Relevant to nothing:

I have a thing for tradeswomen. Painters, carpenters, other traditionally masculine trades. . .

Also women who know their way around the inside of a computer.

uhm, will you be playing games at all? I mean the Intel Core i5 750 is a quad core and that trumps the dual core 650 unless you're only playing with boring old single threaded games and stuff. But then I run multithreading stuff all day long, like photoshop and in such cases quad core makes sense, if you ain't doing that then you'll be cool anyway.

Oh yeah, seen my new shoes ladies? Cute, right? Also, I just made some pie - careful it's hot - ahahaha, what am I saying you know what to do.

I do get stupidly excited every time I hear about a new OS update for my phone. Seeing this news item a few minutes ago turned me instantly into a kid waiting for Christmas. But then my wife is the same way and probably more into gadgets than I am.

I read video game magazines. Sometimes I suspect that the BF relies on me to tell him the nerd news.

Yes. Android brought out the inner geek I never knew I had. I actually follow Android blogs now. Help.

I just had apple pie (baked by my new bff, the farm lady who makes her own pies and sells them at her market) with melted vanilla ice cream on top!
