The Unthanks perform "Here's The Tender Coming". I've listened to this 22 times today. The album version is over 5 minutes long. I can't stop listening to it, this song is amazing.[More:]
"The Tender" in the title is a boat which held men who were press-ganged men into battle. Here's a little more background. I stumbled across the group when Specklet and I, after having one too many snifters, stayed up far too late watching the BBC's live Glastonbury coverage. Best discovery of the year by far.
Hey, so I'd never heard The Unthanks, but they're great! They sort of remind me of The Roches, but with more pathos and less kookiness. Thanks for posting this.
