The Social Network is for creeps. New trailer for the upcoming David Fincher movie about the founding of Facebook. (and Trent Reznor is doing the score for the movie.)
I don't understand the need to make this movie. Yes, they could put in film form how much of a douche Zuckerberg is, but that already seems self-evident.

I think it's fascinating that there's this real-time, as it were, need to document this pretty important societal force that seems to have become so without anyone really noticing until it's already happened. In movie-making terms this seems incredibly fresh, but yeah, in online terms it seems like yesterday's news.

I don't know that a lot of people have really followed this story, though. Online folk have every twist committed to memory, but a lot of average users don't care about Facebook privacy or features until it actually seems to impact them in some way. I don't think many of them have any conception of Facebook as run by this guy, who happens to be a douche. He didn't make himself everybody's first friend like on that other site. What was its name again?

I have never gotten the whole "deal" with Facebook. I had a facebook page but ended up deleting it.

Not interested in the movie ... BUT WHERE CAN I GET THAT COVER OF "CREEP"?

This seems like a weirdly ordinary project for Fincher.

I thought so, too, octo, but this trailer and the fact that Reznor signed on makes me hope it'll be interesting.

Fincher isn't a documentarian- if he took this on, it's because he saw a compelling story in it.

A documentary about privacy and people's willingness to subvert it would be more interesting to me.

Fine, I answered my own question. Saw this trailer in front of Inception--which you should totally be seeing instead of reading this--and seeing it on a big screen piqued my interest a bit more, but hearing that song in the theater really REALLY pushed me to order the CD.
