Oh, this will be interesting.

My favorite photos aren't the best photos I've taken, they are the photos that pull up the best memories for me. Thus:

2007, a big group of my friends rented out houses in Granada and Barbados and went to a bunch of cricket world cup games. On the off-days we did... nothing except lie around the beach eating and drinking rum. Cricket on a Barbados beach at sunset... perfect.

My sister once told me that all my favorite pictures of her are of her frowning slightly. She was totally right and I never quite figured out why. I hope I can find one in particular to scan. I took it at the beach when we were 16 and 17 and she is completely beautiful. She's totally frowning--both squinting into the sun and frowning anyway--but it's one of my favorite pictures ever. It's funny because of the two of us, my sister is much more cheerful, outgoing and optimistic.

I like your point about "favorites" vs. "best," though... something to think about in choosing pics.
