Sometimes the Internet is unexpectedly informative. What have you learned from le web that you didn't know you didn't know?
I learned about Selective Sound Sensitivity Syndrome while wandering around on MetaFilter a while back. Passed this info along to my father because it sounded a lot like it related to him. Turned out it did, and it made him feel a lot better and less alone, like he wasn't crazy. He went to some doctor after I told him this, and got interviewed for like two hours because apparently he is one of the people who has it worst (like top 1% or 2%) and it has only been recognized since something like 1996, according to this person. The doctor was impressed that he had managed to make it through school with all those noises driving him nuts all the time. Go dad!

Anyway, now he wants folks to know about it so that maybe someone else will feel less alone, so I thought I'd share. I appreciate the way the Internet can share knowledge so efficiently, and wonder what your dot-connecting/perspective-changing moments have been lately.

Well, I just learned about Selective Sound Sensitivity Syndrome, for one. Also, a lot about squids and ocotopodes.
